Talking about derogatory comments to Wayne. I don't believe are fans were complementary to him when we played Eastleigh but he always takes it in a good spirit! Yes Vern there was drinking on the terrace and i did partake of a bevy as it was such a lovely day.

I don't think Wayne minds in the least! "He's fat, he's round, he's worth a million pounds"

"He's fat, he's round, he's worth a million pounds" I think its a case of having to get used to it over the years, yes he takes it really well and he is also a great keeper too as the Folkestone found out yesterday. I think the FI fans were great and I know they only meant it as banter but its not right and not far away from shouting something like 'come on chalky'? I just feel a little uncomfortable with it, that all. (Did you get over the hangover? I am not sure you even knew where the goals were yeserday ;D)

I can't stand abusive/discriminatory chanting in general and believe there is no place for it ANYWHERE in football. However, the Folkestone fans' teasing of Wayne was no more than that IMO - just gentle good-natured ribbing. It was accompanied by laughter on both sides (that includes from Wayne himself). Maybe I was just in a good mood, but I didn't see anything wrong with it.

I have absolutely no say in the matter but do recall having a drink outside watching a friendly at GGL not so many seasons ago.Perhaps i broke the rules!

Going on OS's point about what was said to Wayne shaw - although it's not acceptable, I do recall very clearly, as delboy pointed out, that one of our very high profile supporters, aided by a couple of acolytes, were no different to Wayne a few seasons ago at Eastleigh (November 2005 I think, where we lost 2-0). Wayne took it so well, it actually endeared him to me that day, and i remembered that when he joined us. Top man.

Yep, that was the day he did that little Maradona drag back, which I think is the moment he endeared himself to U's fans. For any keeper to have the audacity to do that when faced with someone like Warren Mcbean (or whoever it was) bearing down on him is one thing but for Wayne to have done right in front of us was something else

TBH, Wayne has had it for years and has probably heard it all a million times over. And he usually gives as good as he gets.
If anything, it's probably quite dull for him rather than offensive!

[(Did you get over the hangover? I am not sure you even knew where the goals were yeserday ;D) [/i] [/quote] Suprisingly no hangover, but yes, I had to check the internet this morning to check that the 0-2 I thought it ended really was 0-2...

Wayne's 'reply' to the Folkestone supporters was to do 'Sumo' impressions... He looked to be enjoying the whole thing.
