St Albans City have announced that manager Ritchie Hanlon has parted company with the club. Chairman John Gibson said "I feel sorry for Ritchie as luck hasn't gone his way with regard to injuries but this is a results business. We hoped that results would improve after the positive displays in the Bishops Stortford and Lewes games but unfortunately this was not the case and we have had no choice but to part company."
Senior members of the squad will take training sessions and further statements from the club including the announcement of a successor for Ritchie will be issued in due course.

Ouch, nothing like giving the man a bit of time to settle in!
Obviously there's more than just results not going quite right there. Either that or the season in the Conference has made John Gibson think swinging the axe down a little sooner might've been a good idea.

But it is a results-based business, isn't it? Or am I missing something?
I thought it was a big risk for Saints appointing someone like Hanlon with no managerial experience in the first place. A risk that's backfired for them.

It is but if we sacked our manager after every poor start we'd had we'd've had far more then we have now. Also you have to consider who is out there to replace him? It should be interesting though

Well there is some chap called Mourinho. I've heard he's a decent manager and doesn't need the money!!

There are plenty of managers out there after a job.
I'm sure none of us would have known that Ian Hazel might apply.

It is but if we sacked our manager after every poor start we'd had we'd've had far more then we have now. Would that necessarily have been a bad thing? We've lost more games than we've won in each of the last 3 seasons - and this one is looking like it's going to be the worst of the lot!! It's no real wonder why crowds are plummetting, is it? I don't want to turn up one Saturday to find that I'm one of only 200 people in the ground. The last 2 away games we've taken 30-40 max, which is the worst in terms of numbers I can remember in recent years for Saturday matches.

My point is not that managers shouldn't be sacked when teams are clearly rubbish but they should at least given more than ten games to judge their talents with.
I'm not exactly well informed on the situation at St Albans but i imagine you could argue that the impact of relegation and huge team changes had a fair amount to do with why they are swilling around in the sh*t like us alongside the managers flaws.
That said if we're still as hopeless as we are now and bottom come November then i can't see what justification we have for keeping our manager and indeed some of the players.
At the moment i don't believe that will be the case if we can get our heads together and i'm also drifting into a separate point so i'll stop...

Our team isn't rubbish though. They just don't know what to do with themselves!

And I still believe the individual errors are due to lack of confidence
