i don't believe we get on the players backs after the first misplaced pass ever and saying our last three performances have seen improvement is a little way off the mark in my opinioh

This is kind of what I've been saying all along, but although I agree that some supporters have been a little cynical and as Ian said quick to criticise, I think it would also be nice for those of us who do get behind the team to get a little recognition for our efforts. We need encouragement too, and I think we've earned it.

I think alot of supporters do get behind the team (I thought that we as fans were very supportive at Cambridge for example), but performances from the team haven't exactly been helping making the ordinary fan feel positive about life at the moment. We are down to hardcore support at the moment, which for most means that they will be really supportive of the team. But give us something extra to cheer please guys, sometimes it's hard to stay positive.

I was going to cite Cambridge as an example- I thought we gave fantastic support that day. We were cheering and encouraging the players whenever they made good moves or showed a little guts, all the way until (almost) the end when most of us quite understandably gave up. I find it sad that support like that is not recognised yet we're criticised when our support is not so good. I believe (as Jared seems to be hinting above) that good support has to be earned sometimes. We are in a very difficult time- poor performances lower our motivation to give enthusiastic support, which in turn lowers the players' motivation.
We have to break this cycle. Nobody is going to wave a magic wand over us between now and tomorrow afternoon. We can't make the team play better but we can give them incentive to do so. Let's go out there and do our very best.

Its a double edged sword fans tend not to get behind a team unless this is transmitted back from the pitch, the support at home games this season has been very flat. Last week it was like a morgue untill the final 5 mins but it took Woodford to score??

"Sometimes the supporters can be a 12th man, yet at the moment it feels like we are one short."
That is taken from the article.
I personally find that both laughable and insulting. That is not the way to go about winning the fans over.
Oh and the 3 game comment, 2 of them were against feckin Woodford of course we whould be able to play some good football (I saw the first game and wasn't overly impressed) against them.
Also what about the rest of the season we are bottom and just beating teams two divisions below, I suppose the fans should take some of the responsability for that as well.
I seriously hope those qoutes were taken out of context but I doubt they were.
He has put out the teams that makes us sometimes look like a man down so for him to say that maybe he should look a lot lot closer to home before passing comment about the fans.
I went from a fan and a supporter of Ian Hazel to someone who I now wonder if they are the right person to have in charge and that is putting it mildly.
I'm not a happy fan at the moment and that article didn't help.

Ever since Hazel's arrival he has been given all the support possible. When we struggled last season, the supporters were more positively vocal than I can remember for a while (barring the old codgers on the Collingwood road side). The crowds aren't huge, and we don't all have microphones. We didn't start this season well, surprise surprise the fans aren't happy. What does he expect? We don't all have his rose tinted glasses and this is not the way to gain support from the terraces. Woodford Green? we should be struggling against superior oppostition, not Woodford Green! How many managers would have been sacked by now if their team had started the season like Sutton? But like the supporters that Sutton has, the majority will out at the next game pushing the team forward as always, maybe not as loud as normal, but there all the same. So come on Mr. Hazel, give us the performance we all know Sutton United are capable of...and if you can't, don't expect a miracle from the terraces to help you out. We will help you, but you have to give us something to cheer too.

It would have been nice to see some appreciation of those fans who made it up to Woodford.
Despite the uninspiring performance, we did give the team some vocal support. Yes, there were shouts in frustration - but also shouts of encouragement when the players turned up the pressure.

A manager under pressure having a go at the fans - what next - a vote of confidence?

I think Saturday should be a get behind the team and manager day and this should stop at least until after we beat WSM. Me and my mouth will be giving all in atempt to get a result and maybe just maybe we will get a good performance too?
COME ON YOU U's

Exactly.
We can say what we like on here, we can feel however we feel, but everyone, PLEASE do not let this article or any negative feelings you might have towards Ian affect your support tomorrow.
When we walk into that ground, our top priority should be giving our team all the support we can. I really hope nobody's going to be thinking anything like "well if my support isn't appreciated I can't be bothered." The bottom line is that we want our team to win, and the best thing we can do is to make sure our support is top notch.

I get the feeling that IH is getting more and more out of touch. I class myself as one of those 'hardcore' supporters (but by no means the most hardcore) and although the article implies rather that states it outright, the implication is that we are not getting behind the team. Well I think anyone who stands behind the opponents goal like we do know thats not the case. A good attempt, a creative chance, a decent string of passes, a good clean save all get praise from the vast majority of supporters. I personally am going to be like I always am tomorrow. Im not going to slag off players, ok I wil vent my frustration at times, but lets bring one thing into perspective. The board, the management, the players (hopefully!) and the supporters all want the same thing. We want success. Just try not to forget that when we miss a sitter!!!
