Very unlucky, deserved a draw. Financial muscle and better players of Lewes clearly evident, we were a bit slow for the first 30 minutes or so, Lewes showed lots of quality. We had the better of the end of the first half and better of the second half, we played very well at times whilst perhaps Lewes sat back a bit but credit to us. Unlucky not to get a deserved draw in the end, hit the post in scramble at the very end of the first half. Very creditable performance, we can get out of this..... My one gripe from today, Matt Groves - he constantly backs in and holds on and the Lewes fans bay for free kicks, thank goodness the ref cottoned on to it in the end despite Steve King accompanying him from the half way line back to the dressing room complianing about fouls on Groves?!!

ps, I'm claiming a moral victory based on finances and league positions! Mrs enjoyed her day out also, fantastic lunch in Prezzo, we like Lewes.

To be perfectly blunt today, I was once again proud to be a Sutton supporter. OK so we lost, and Lewes are a useful side, although I didn't see anything there to show they are champions or unbeatable, and in the league game in a couple of weeks time, playing the way we did we could well nick something.
The best thing was the never say die attitude of the players today. Our major concern is we have become VERY goal shy. Also our set pieces are weak. None of our free kicks posed any threat.
But by FAR the best performance i've seen this season. Well done to the boys, and also well done to the supporters. The never say die attitude applies as much to them as the players.

We were very unlucky today i felt. They were the better team in the 1st 25 minutes, but we reacted fantastically to the goal and were soon creating chances, Lewis in paticular was unlucky to see a header go over in the 1st half. 2nd half we came out with real grit and determination to get the equaliser, but despite some 6 yard box scrambles in the last few minutes we were unable to find the killer touch. Considering we are rock bottom, we don't have a manager and our confidence is low we matched Lewes today i feel, all that was missing was someone to put the ball away. IMO there were echos of Eastbourne away in April 2006, when despite losing we played well for the 1st time in ages, using it as a springboard to push away from relegation. Let's hope the same thing happens now.

I can only echo the above we never gave up and in the end Lewes were clinging on, a very proud Sutton fan here and yep just like that Eastbourne game when the belief came back, I think it did today. First half 30mins I feared the worse we would not get near the ball, but the goal sparked something and for the next hour you could not tell which team was which! We really need a fox in the box to get a vital toe in, we need an end product and will be fine. Just one moan from me if you get a corner in the last minute of a cup tie and you are 1-0 down all 10 outfield players have to get in the box its pointless standing on the halfway line. We are staying up PS: I thought the defence was superb today, Scooby AND Lewis played a blinder!

I think the main thing that came out of today was the fight, we kept going and though we didn't get anything we showed we can play in a manner that will get us points this season. A big well done to Lewis for the saving challenge at the end too. Sutton till i die!

Wouldn't say that was our best performance of the season by a long chalk. We played far better at home to Bromley and up at Cambridge.
But, in the context of our current form, there was some promise.
First half, they should have murdered us. But second half, they seemed to sit back and think it was job done. TBH, if I was a Lewes fan, I'd be royally pissed off at the last 20 mins. They were terrible.
Shame we couldn't get that equaliser we deserved, but at least the performance, along with Bromley on teusday, has shown a bit more life.
Good turn out from us as well.
Same again next week! Eastbourne was a bit of a turning point that tuesday night where despite getting beat, we seemed to finally click.

Losing 1-0 today was probably more disappointing than had we have been thumped 6-0. We had our chances, but again just aren't getting enough bodies in the box to convert them or put their keeper under any pressure at all.
Whilst the performances are improving, we've still only scored 4 goals in the 7 games against Conf South opposition since we beat Eastleigh, which is a problem that has to be rectified immediately
