Certainly another encouraging performance to follow Bromley, even though we lost again. Both defeats were by single goal margins away from home against well-financed opponents. I don't think we would have got away that lightly had we played these matches a couple of weeks earlier.
The main weakness (as others have noted) was a lack of presence in the opposition box. The Lewes centre backs were very effective at intercepting dangerous-looking balls and hoofing them clear. And too many of our forward passes were long and aimless, either going out for throw-ins or goal kicks or being comfortably taken by their keeper. But when we got enough players forward to play a pressing game we actually looked quite threatening.
One other minor gripe: Warren McBean was great at dribbling past three defenders (before being dispossessed by a fourth), but when it came to making a run into the box to meet Craig Watkins's pass he was nowhere to be seen.

Wouldn't say that was our best performance of the season by a long chalk. We played far better at home to Bromley and up at Cambridge. Where we you for the last 20mins of the Cambridge match!?!??!

Great fighting display yesterday, stretched Lewes (a far bigger and stronger side) all the way. Even when they were on top in the first half, there was terrific resolve from the back four. Clearly our biggest problem is up front, where we just don't seem to have a scorer. I thought Watkins played much better 2nd half when he was moved into the centre, causing more problems than Warren. He, on the other hand, was hopeless out on the wing; yes, his trickery beat a defender every now and then, but I don't think he ever got in the box unless he had the ball at the time. The substitution of a lively Jason Henry didn't work either, his replacement having zero impact. The big need is for a Simon Wormull type striker, who can both hold the ball up and score, but unfortunately they don't grow on trees. Oh, and we need Paul Honey back.

Andy, my point was that we played far better overall in that game despite getting beaten. Same with Dorch at home.
Saturday, we were only really in the game for the second half. And even then, we lacked any real punch.

Fair point Taz, although at least on Sunday we got better as the day went on. I don't think i've ever seen a Sutton collapse as bad as Cambridge in 20 years!!

I remember it well. 4-2 up with half an hour to go. Losing 5-4.
The odd thing was the number of us who said we'd lose 5-4 when we went 4-2 up was scary. Would like to have a team/manager where that just wouldnt even be thought of!
