Firstly, Happy New Year to you all. London 2012 was meant to inspire a generation. Well, I may not be from the generation they meant but I was inspired and after watching the Paralympic cycling at Brands Hatch and enjoying a hike up Box Hill to watch the road race I decided that I should have a go at something in 2013. So, I plan to walk from my home near Horsham to our last home league game against Billericay on 6th April and will try to raise money for the club's charity of the season, MENCAP. It's somewhere around 25 miles. What I would really like though is 3 or 4 other volunteers to come on the walk with me. So, if you are feeling like you had 6 or 7 too many helpings of Christmas pud and need an excuse to work it off, please drop me a line. davef@suttonunited.net

4 people suggested today that they might join me in this, but are yet to commit ! The more the merrier though and you don't have to raise money for MENCAP.

I'm sure you've thought this through Dave, but I estimate that it would take around 8 hours to walk the 25 miles (with an average speed of about 3 mph). If you're looking to arrive at GGL before kick-off, say at 2 pm, you'd need to set out at approx 6 a.m.

I would think doing it over that distance is physically impossible...unless you have tendons of steel ;D

Must be possible. Am sure someone has done a marathon backwards before!

I'd think it's different if you're running rather than walking but even so, it really can't be good for you.

I've now got two confirmed walkers to join me on this little jaunt, three others are considering it. If you are still thinking about it, then rest assured there WILL be stops for beer and bacon sandwiches.
