As a guide, off-peak rental of a 5-a-side pitch at Goals in North Cheam is £50 per hour....now do the maths!!

Someone correct me, but am I right in thinking that Maidstone ground had to have a 3G pitch as determined by the council? No that's wrong The club chose to go down the 3G route because it was the only way to fund the stadium As I fan I'd rather it be grass (not mud) but seeing my team play in my home town was better 2300 watched our game with Sittingbourne on New Years Day, so it really has enthused the locals. I wouldn't want to see every club go down that route, but it should be an option at least to conference level. The fact that you can play a Champions league game or a European Qualifer on them but not a Conference game is imo daft! Well done to your club for recognising that it should be an option

Hello Maidstone I've seen a few of your fans give the opinion that the new pitch does not significantly affect the football itself (unlike old-style astroturf type pitches) in terms of bounce etc - do you agree?

Hi Sal As mentioned on here earlier Poyet called the surface magnificent, John Still (Dagenham) said much the same, and the Chipstead manager said 'he wanted to get his boots on again' The pitch plays pretty much the same as any non boggy flat grass pitch! The reserves, the youth teams, disability teams play on it every day, there is even a charity match (maidstone legends v ex pros) on it tonight. What other pitch up and down the country would risk there pitch this time of year for charity? Obviously I am biased, but our home record isn't as good as our away record, other clubs come to us and think blimey I can play on this! It really is the future imo, to allow clubs the revenue streams to survive! Don't take my word for it, come down to a game and have a look Regards Tim

Any excuse to get involved Thanks for the correction though, I didn't think it was right! Glad to see a decent non league club like yours finally have a home again - I've been to see you about 5 times, ALL at different stadia!

Is it fair to say that the standard of football would improve too then? We could expect bigger gates if so.

Thanks Andy, have you been to The Gallagher yet?
Must admit always loved going to GGL, nice old fashioned fooball ground (reminded me of our old London Road ground) with good friendly supporters.
The only trouble was when we played you the game was always in doubt and eventually played in a 'bog'
You'd love a 3G surface!
Good luck with your season, maybe we'll play each other again soon!

I'm sure you'll be with us soon given the gates you are attracting. I dare say we'd travel well to that fixture when it does come back.
There is no doubt in my mind that a better stadium and pitch would attract more fans into our ground.

Not yet, but i've heard great things about it. I can't see it being too long before you guys are up at this level to be honest! And lets face it, even if you had no grass, artificial or not, it would still be a better experience than at Ashford Town - the COLDEST ground in the entire world. It's like entering antartica going there...

It was Chipstead Asst Manager Graeme Banyard! Personally, I've never heard of him!

Decent article by Stuart Hammonds in the NLP today supporting our approach to Confrennce clubs for a rethink on 3G pitches.
