Seeing as one of them is Welling I'd say 2 out of 3 wins out of this batch of home games would be an excellent return. No doubt given where Welling are and the run they are on we are 2nd favourites by a good distance.

Poor game and Sutton lacked ideas and a playmaker.I believe we should have played 4-4-2.
4 recent signings.Jordan did ok today but the other 3 haven't really added anything to our team so far.

OS. I think you will find they scored following a long throw, not a corner !
Kbb
Ps. The game was really poor.

Christ, some people love jumping on band wagons. Hornchurch were certainly better than Staines, arguably better than WSM earlier in the season and H&W too. One thing Jimmy McFarlane knows is how to organise his defence and they were solid in the first half allowing U's little space in the final third and were happy to try and free the lively Smith with the long ball. RP did well to fashion his effort against the bar while at the other end Wayne was in fine form making a number of good saves.
In the second, Hornchurch came out of their shell and as a result made for a more entertaining contest. Wayne again made one fine save low to his right before Dundo went on a superb solo run & finished with an ecellent left foot strike.
As on our last visit to Bridge Road, U's couldn't hold on and while the defending from the long throw-in was disappointing, Gray's finish was excellent into the top corner. Sam hit the woodwork from a well executed free-kick joining Tom Jordan and RP in that feat.
The pitch was heavy, so the long ball was probably the better option than a patient passing game & with the weather the way it has been & looks to continue be the purists may have to put up with that style for a while.
Oveall I reckon neither side deserved a win. Wayne was the busier of the two 'keepers, while the woodwork thwarted U's three times. I'll wait a few more games before passing any judgment on the new lads but I will say I was very impressed by the big fella at the back.
To add to those above too, what a refreshing change to see a decent refereeing performance. No fuss, not card happy and not intimidated by the "ref" in the home dugout either.
Having not won at Hornchurch since 1962 (not that there have been many visits since then) and with our recent record there, I would have taken a point today but the way the league is that point leaves us in the bottom 3 again with a tough match coming on Tuesday. Welling will be smarting having seen their amazing winning run halted at Dover.

This match felt rather like a return to the 08/09 Ryman season - small crowd, heavy pitch, muscular challenges and little in the way of entertaining football.
As others have said, the game did improve after a mind-numbing first half and the spectators were rewarded with two decent goals late on. Great run and strike from Dundo, although I thought his shot may have taken a deflection to wrong-foot the home keeper, and we should know by now the sort of threat that Wayne Gray poses in the penalty area. Hornchurch were a bit less physical than they used to be, but still looked one of the poorer sides in the division.
Only five of the Sutton starting XI were with us at the start of the season, and this re-shaped team is clearly still work in progress. I thought Jordan, on his debut, showed some good strength on the ground, while his height is an obvious asset, but his lack of pace will leave us exposed against better sides.
With Dorchester and Basingstoke both winning, and so climbing above us, we drop back to third bottom.

Absolutely agree, not much credit being given on here to a Hornchurch side that worked the ball well at times showing good movement and had us pegged for fifteen minutes of the second half! 3rd is not to be sniffed at but had we held out we would actually be top of this: www.footballwebpages.co.uk/confsouth/form

Point taken on the form guide hon sec. Despite the disjointed season and the frustration of the late goal yesterday we are on an impressive run and in any "normal" season with games played and points acquired we would be comfortably placed and that's an excellent turn around from where we were at at the start of the season. Just need a decent run of games now to get some momentum going but that bloody weather is lurking again........

Sutton have lost 16 points from winning positions this season and gained 8 from losing positions.
The good news. The trend like our results is generally better in resent weeks.

Well after reading Dos's comments on the match yeaterday i think he must have watched a different game to me but football is all about opinions. In the first half i thought Hornchurch were by far the worst team iv'e seen in the CS this season.Their only tactic was to sit back ,hoof the ball forward and hope someone gets on the other end.We weren't much better preferring to pass the ball to them rather than our own players, pitch accepted.Second half Hornchurch ventured out for a bit and had a good spell for about 15 mins. For me they are certain relegation candidates.

Well undoubtedly they are currently one of the favourites to be in the relegation mix. Along with Staines they have played a lot of games and are still right down there. Long way to go though and it's so tight many sides can be dragged into it yet. Fair to say that 3rd from bottom may yet be safe given the state of many of the non league clubs' finances.

Hornchurch are second bottom in the form table and are only above the bottom three of the league table by virtue of the extra games they've managed to play (six more than us, four more than Billericay). Along with Staines they must be favourites to go down with Truro - although, as Gareth says, the middle and lower reaches of the table are still very tight.
TBH I'm not convinced that our third place in the form table is a very reliable indicator, based as it is on teams' last six results. Our last six include the wins at Staines and Dorchester in early December, since when there's been quite a lot of change to the Sutton squad! Although we've got four points from our last two matches, I don't think either performance was particularly convincing. That's understandable given the recent weather-enforced breaks in our fixture schedule and the playing time needed to assimilate the new signings. We should soon start to see whether Dos has at last found the blend to propel us up the table that really counts.

Those idiot fans of theirs seem to have gone. Dunno about anyone else but I only heard proper support from their fans. Much better!

Was he talking to the player or the ref? ;D
