Did Mr Dolbear really write this?? Mainly as we're playing Eastbourne on saturday and Lewes is in Sussex. Not Kent!
United duo back for Kent trip? By Tony Dolbear
Sutton United could welcome back Tony Quinton and Paul Honey for Saturday's trip to Lewes.
Quinton is available again after being cup-tied for Sunday's 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Lewes, while the rib injury suffered by Paul Honey in the recent win at Woodford United has proved not to be as serious as first feared.
Apart from a memorable FA Cup win in 2004, Eastbourne hasn't been the happiest of grounds for Sutton, who have picked up just one point from their three league visits and lost 2-0 there early last season.
Supporters hoping to travel to the game by train are reminded that the line is closed this weekend between Haywards Heath and Lewes, with a replacement bus service in operation but an alternative route is available from Charing Cross, changing at St Leonards.
United visit Thurrock in the league next Tuesday. United lost 3-0 there in the final game of last season.

Seems Tony-esque - he probably wrote the main copy, but not the headline.

Fortunately I've still got the email I sent them, so can plead not guilty on all counts of inaccuracy. My sentence even says 'Sutton return to East Sussex to take on Eastbourne..'

The standard of journalism in the Sutton Guardian these days is very sloppy. I wonder how they managed not only to confuse Eastbourne with Lewes, but then decide that either was in Kent? Can they not even read what Tony wrote?
The Guardian does not even print match reports these days (you have to go online to get these), nor produce backgound information columns or meaningful match previews like it used to do. Compare this to the coverage some of our rivals in our league get in their local papers and you will see how poorly served we are. I think the problem is that, unlike in the days of the old Sutton Herald, there is no local paper actually produced in Sutton - we're just a sideline for papers produced in Croydon or Kingston. Shame.

Match reports are also in the programme SV...
And if anything the headquarters for the paper is nearest Sutton's ground to all the others.

Anyone coming on here will have no problem getting match reports, Ed, but isn't the local paper the main way that people who don't come to matches/have given up coming/come occasionally read about the club? Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the decline in coverage affects our ability to interest the casual/potential supporter.

I think the results being printed have something to do with it as well!!
