Not a bad game, but slightly slower paced as you can imagine in the heat. Superb solo build up for and great placement from Mcbean for the first. Eastbourne keeper cockup and Mcbean backflick for a good tap in from Alimi, and a perfect header from a Matt Gray corner from Scooby.
We did our usual stuggle for the first part of the second half and Eastbourne got on the scoresheet. But as the match went on, we seemed to develop a skill we have not shown too much this season. An ability of counter attack. As the game went on there was more of this and we were starting to open up one of the best defences in the league. So a win, a decent win, ending our 6 games without a win and ending Eastbournes 13 games without a defeat.
A good days work I think!

Great game, very very hot though. Even with the Eastbourne's Keeper injury he was poor. I didn't really see McBeans goal as i was on the otherside of the ground but heard it was a cracker and the second goal the keeper made a complete cock-up. Phil Wilson once again proving to be my player of the season, he has been outstanding keeping us in games and he did that again today with some brilliance in goal and Scooby scored a header from a perfectly place cross from Matt Gray. Oh and the Ref was crap once again, suprise, suprise.

We cannot now be relegated and Histon take the title. I thought first half we controlled the game and Matt back in the side allowed Warren to play more centrally where he should be. He has a superb first touch and made his goal look easy difficult choice between him and PW for player of the season. The start of the second half was typical Sutton didn't seem to know what to do for 20mins, the goal was under siege but give the boys their due they fought like mad to keep Eastbourne from Equalising. I think Eastbourne then had to throw caution to the wind in an effort to stay intouch with the playoff places but unfortunately for them our strongest point is playing on the break against teams who play a high line. JH did well very unlucky with a nasty bobble as he was about to shoot will improve and can learn a lot from Warren. It was an exciting game to watch one of the most entertaining games at GGL this season and we are definitely getting better with each game, but should get the book 'what to do when you are 2 nil up'

Great game to watch! I thought Eastbourne had a bit more of the ball and more shots on goal, but we looked dangerous on the break and made more of our chances.

I think you're all mad! Eastbourne should've been 3 up within ten minutes, THEY controlled most of the game and it should've ended about 8-5 to them!
Eastbourne looked very good on the ball and their movement was as good as we've seen at GGL this season, if they knew how to finish and had taken a deserved and commanding lead it could've been very different.
Jason worked very hard but not sure how he was MotM though, missed chances and all that but it's good experience for him and let's hope it pays dividends later.

As we've seen in the past, having all the possession & making more chances does not guarantee three points. EB were awful in front of goal & to their credit the U's defended well, desperately on occasions, but well by getting bodies were it mattered. We missed three one on ones in the second half. Still, considering the heat it was quite an entertaining game & for me, an unexpected win.

But they didn't Millsy ! Looking at my notes we actually created more clear chances over the full 90 minutes. Yes they could have been 2 up before we scored but we might have been 3 up at Fisher on Monday before they even mounted a serious attack; and we ended up losing. Fortunately, unlike ballroom dancing, football is decided on goals and not some the marks of some doddery old judges.

It's difficult what to make of today's game. It was a cracker to watch, with some excellent end to end football from both sides. I thought Eastbourne had the better chances before we scored our first, but once Bash added a second we were always firm favourites for the three points.
They looked one of the better "Top 7" teams we've come across. You could probably see why the were 15 games unbeaten going into today's game - but beating them today just proves how close we are to being one of the challengers for next season.

And just to add to hon sec's point, we had 99% of the chances at Dulwich on Monday and didn't get a thing from the game. Let's enjoy the little bit of luck we've finally got this season, and try to do a double over the new champions!!

TBH, looking at my notes, I'd say EB edged it overall. But, goals win games. And for the first time, we made the most of our chances. Well, some of 'em. EB created quite a bit, but looked very tired. A similar game as today in August\September of a season and we're getting hammered. But today, they missed a hatful and then we sneaked ahead. Should have put it out of sight in the second half late on, but 3 points are what matters. Another great performance from Wilson today as well.

It does seem we can't win, if we don't take our chances we don't deserve to win and we do the other side still deserves to win ?? We scored 3 goals today, had 3 one on ones caught offside by the narrowist of margins another 3 or 4 when almost clean through. I think Mr Millsy is being a bit mean towards us

To be fair, had chances been taken as they came, we would have been 3 down early on.
But, they didn't take 'em and we nicked one. It happens.
How many times have we more than contributed competitively to a game this season and deserved something from the contest, only to come away empty handed?
Monday being a prime example!
If you ask me, today was a bit of pay back for one or two results that have evaded us this season when we deserved summat.
