Very poor performance from the side today.

Well, the 3 -0 flattered Havant a bit and I think we probably had more of the ball than they did. However, we can't complain about not getting anything out of the game. We rarely threatened and the Havant keeper only had to make one serious save. Sutton started brightly and were certainly the more ambitious of the sides, Havant being content to play more like the away side and hit us on the break. Unfortunately the game became scrappy after a bright 20 minutes and then we gave away a daft goal when the keeper's clearance was charged down and rebounded straight into the net. 2nd half and we seemed to go a bit longer, but still carried little threat. Havant are quick on the break, the sucker punch 2nd goal seemed inevitable and duly arrived. The third was particularly disappointing when our wing-back (sorry don't know his name) lost posession near their penalty box and seemd to lack the heart to track back. I don't see that many games living down here, the last one was the 1-0 defeat at Salisbury where we were well beaten too. You can't fault the effort from the team (you can forgive heads dropping a bit in the last 15 minutes today) but I really cannot see us making the play-offs with this team. We just need to tick off enough home points to stay clear of the bottom 3 and secure mid table obscurity.

Ouch. After a pleasant tootle down the a3 with a tang of spring in the air this was a game that gradually disintegrated for us. Up until the first goal I think we looked the better side. A couple or rents free kicks were probably our best chances. One just over and another forcing a save from old silly bollox in the hawks goal. Anyone who thought we'd eliminated the self destructive tendencies of early season was reaquainted when hw took the lead. Only a few minutes earlier a back pass had put lovelock under unnecessary pressure but we repeated the trick, the striker closed him down and the clearance whacked into him and straight into the goal. Not a freak in my view. It happens fairly regularly so why take the gamble? Second half was the worst I've seen us in a while but I did miss chelmo last week. Hw's second we looked flat and slow at the back and they scooted through with ease to pretty much kill the game. We huffed and puffed and threw on the subs but to be honest a solid Havant back four had little to worry about. They soaked up our pressure with some ease albeit with the assistance of a ref who seemed to think Tom Jordan's presence in the box represented a foul in itself. Tom of course copped it wholesale from the hawks fans although their mob only really found their voice when they went three up after we had pushed everyone forward and they were able to score at will on the break. Bad day at the office although the sunset over the Surrey hills on the way home was nice. Gotta get this out of our system for Bromley on Tuesday. We've regrouped before this season and need to do it again as we really don't want to end up in a dog fight at the death the way this league has panned out.

Very disappointed with performance today, although we had lot of possession did very little with it, and rarely troubled the H & W goalkeeper from open play. Back passing to the goal keeper when defenders get into trouble seems a common practice today at all levels of football, so it happened today our keeper sold short on a back pass that lead to the opening goal. Pushing forward in second half down the slope looking for equaliser left us exposed at the back, and Havants speedy forwards finished us off. Plenty of corners in second half but never really troubled their keeper. Back to the drawing board.

I don't think 3-0 flattered Havant. Whenever they attacked (especially second half) we seemed unable to stop them.
If we did have as much possession, it probably makes it worse as we did bugger all with it.
Very disappointing afternoon.
Must do better on Tuesday.

Probably one of our worst performances of the season, old habits returning in front of both goals. Up until the goal we were well in the game with the lion share of possession, but did little to hurt the oppos. We were given a early warning down the right but failed to heed it and paid the price. I think it was a Palmer last week at Chelmo that caused the damage and this weeks one was alowed time and time again to wander down the right and made all 3 goals. We lacked any sort of cutting edge in front of their goal and in truth they picked us off at will. I was talking at half time about being direct and we most certainly overplay in the final 3rd not delivering the ball into dangerous areas, easy meat for the defence when it did come in and when it didn't we found ourselves caugth in possession long ball over the top and pick that one out Tommy!
It was a frustrating game to watch, our away form doesn't lie, we are too gun hoe. I would like to see 2 banks of 4 behind the ball defending the pt and looking to draw the oppos out.
I don't think the score flatted Havant at all, if we had still been out there it would be 6-0 now. We never looked like scoring only conceeding.

Not the best away day then. I'm not going to single out any individuals as I don't really think anyone had a good game. We need to be much, much better on Tuesday to beat Bromley, who won today.

With the caveat that I missed the FA cup game against Bromley and the away trip to Boreham Wood, in my opinion the worst performance of the season.
Game of two halves - first half I though both sides were quite poor but managed to cancel each other out a bit - only really in the last 10min after the goal that it started to open up a bit. The 1st goal may have been slightly fortunate for them in that Tom made a mistake with his clearance, but still teams needs to take their chances, even when gifted to them.
2nd half different story - Havant came out stronger than before and knew exactly how to get us, and we just turned up. And fell for it every time. It's all very well playing attacking football, but last week and this week we got found out bigtime. We can't deal with the counter attack. Last week the numbers were kept down mainly due to the heroics of Lovelock, but this weekend we were exposed big time. Our rock solid defence looked vunerable. Their 3rd goal was especially bad as it was Sam Rents (our left back, who actually I thought probably had the best game out of the side today) who was tackled in their 18 yard box, to which then went the entire length of the pitch without a decent challenge and scored.
Usually from matches of this sort Dos learns from and makes sure there are no repeats. But to me it was like everyone on our side was off colour - either in terms of effort or in things they would normally do were just not clicking today.
A very deserved win for Havant today - but we are still a point above them with 4 games in hand. More importantly though, we are now 12 points away from a play off place. We need to be aiming for a respectable mid table finish now.

Completely irrelevant and of no consequence to the outcome (I actually called a 3-0 defeat at half-time!) but did anyone else think that there was a hint of off-side for the third goal? Just asking for my own interest as it appeared to me that the covering defender was the only player and that the scorer was actually ahead of Lovelock?
Just out of interest!
