Superb all round display today against a team whose backline looked like a Micky droy tribute act. Marv put us one up and second half we carved them open with jay and h oustanding. H got his goal on his hundreth game and deano stroked in the third. If they hadn't had scrivs in goal it would have been a massacre. This side is shaping up very nicely thank you and good to see what looked like a decent crowd in the sunshine.

Also looks like we are creeping back into the playoff picture as a long shot!

'Ricay arrived with half a team of basket ball players but after carving out two presentable chances, they went behind to Marv Williams goal, his shot bouncing over Scrivs dive.
After that, I think the visitors had one more chance and then in the second half were simply passed out of the game. Two quick-fire goals both the result of excellent passing & movement ended the match as a contest early in the second half and after that it was like watching exhibition football. U's probably should have had a couple more while the visitors had no threat up front. Scrivs made one good save from Harry B.
On that showing you've got to fear for 'Ricay's hopes of staying up but that should not take any credit away from U's who were just too good. Harry got a goal on his 100th appearance & Dean Sinclair his second in a week. Thought the three subs did well today & continued U's impressive lively movement.
Ref did well, in what was a low key match with regards to discipline, although his decision against Dundo late in the first half was questionable.
A nice afternoon in the warm(ish) sunshine.

Not a lot to add to what MarkF has written, against a team of giants who would have caused us problems a little while ago we recorded a well deserved clean sheet, and that speaks volumes in itself. SD just appears to be getting better and the whole backline is working as a unit. Ali Fuseini has definitely added significantly to the middle who look relaxed and the passing is probably the best in the league. We were pretty much in control the whole match and once their Ariel threat was snuffed out it was a question of how many we could get and how many good saves Scrivs could make. What we did today was put a club struggling against relegation to the sword with a very controlled performance and that is something we have found problems with all season. Not only was it a good day on the pitch it was off it as well with the DAD going really well and the weather for once playing its part. Its a good time to become a U's supporter because you get the feeling we might be at the start of something

"Micky Droy tribute act"!! Great comment. They breed 'em big in Ricay.
Before mentioning the match, top marks to those who organized the disability awareness day and the events before the game. I had my first and second games of Boccia and anybody not moved by the Canine Partners demo is not human. I was with friends who really appreciated the event and the work put in to get it off the ground.
Now to the match. A really good performance I thought and if the opposition are going to be from the land of the giants, then you have to play football and we did. Some really good passing thoroughly deserved winners.
Also, every set piece from Ricay meant a good few giants coming forward so credit to the defence who never really struggled. I thought Jamie Stuart was great.
Squad gelling nicely now and if we can continue to blood the younger guys and bring in a real goalscorer up front, then next season could be very interesting.
A great day and the first for ages when I didn't have to wear a hat!

A professional job well done today. We did what we needed to do without raising our game too much. This was a match, remember, between the two most recent Ryman league winners. One have established themselves as a Conference South club, whilst the other have struggled, which is a shame because for the 3 years we were in the Ryman they were constantly improving and certainly deserved their place in the league, although it's looking more likely it will be a short stay - the two teams above them, Tonbridge and H&Y play each other tomorrow, and depending on the score, they will be between 5 and 7 points from safety this late in the season.
As for us, again we've got a lot of players already signed for next season out there, so really we're more into extended pre season friendlies now that games that matter for promotion and relegation. Our starting line up again contained 9 players already signed up for next season, one on loan and i think one we'd all love to sign for next season too. The good thing about that is that besides the weak opposition there wasn't any point in the game where we were not really in control. There was some lovely play today, including Marvin who was causing them all sorts of problems again, Dundo weaving his magic in the centre of the park and Downer, who yet again just showed his class. And I don't think we had any cards today either.
Great to see Scrivs today, not really at fault for any of the goals, but 'riccay showed why they have the worst defence in the league. Fine in the air but like the reverse a month ago, awful on the deck. We certainly clocked onto that very quickly and hence the total lack of long ball which allowed our passing game to shine.
Harry got a full 90mins before his enforced week off and we'll be without him and Dean for next weekend at Farnborough. Big misses, but I think we're starting to get a squad there that can cover.
Good win, nice day, good ref (even for that Dundo moment in the first half - probably cancelled out the one that happened earlier which led to our first free kick which really was very soft!) and we're 100% win in April. Great stuff

It's not been often this season that we've gone into a game's final 15 minutes looking comfortable, but that was the situation today. A 1-0 half-time lead is a fragile advantage, but two more goals in quick succession just after the hour effectively killed this game off as a contest and Dos had the luxury of bringing on the three young reservists for the final quarter without it looking any sort of risk.
We know from past expererience that Billericay can be awkward opponents, but they're playing Ryman League football in the Conference South and most teams at this level are finding them out. We've adapted to the higher standard and they haven't.
With keeperless Farnborough winning at Staines we stay 10th. But we'll have the opportunity to overtake them on Tuesday when we travel to Maidenhead, who ended their six match losing streak today by beating in-form Havant.

Very good win today with James Folkes the stand out player for me but I wasn't aware of any team of giants playing. As far as I'm concerned we comfortably outplayed a team of normal men*...

Regulation win but the lads did a good job and got the result. Thought Billericay were poor, more like a Ryman team than Conference South, can't see them surviving if they play like that. Folkes did well today, as did Marvin and Dundo (as usual). Tom didn't have to bust a gut to keep his clean sheet, but looked solid in goal, He'll come on good next season I think. we dealt with everything Billericay had to offer, even if it wasn't that much. Andy K summed it up perfectly, a professional jod done by the lads, well done.

I understand that Farbborough don't have a recognised goalkeeper at the moment.

Don't worry you will recognise him when you see him.He will be the one with the gloves & goalkeeper shirt on!
