I've often been accused of rambling, but now it's justified. Following our charity walk last week, which was more enjoyabale and less damaging than anticipated, it seems like a good time to set up a ramblers section at The Lane. No charities, no fees, no long-distance slogs, no support vehicles, no arduous training and no commitment, just a shared interest in walking through some of the beautiful countryside of South-East England. The intention would be walks that stick to the footpaths and bridle ways, probably 10-15 miles - maybe the odd shorter walk - and always aiming to end up at a nice country pub for lunch or dinner or even just a cooling drink. Initially we'd look to do 3-4 walks each summer, between April and September, weekends or maybe midweek evenings, but this could change subject to demand and popularity. I suggest that the next one would probably be scheduled for June. We've already had one suggestion that we should aim for Ashdown Forest (I suspect someone just wants to play Pooh Sticks) As I said, there's no commitment expected. If you do one walk you don't have to do them all and if you don't turn up on the day, well, so what ? If this is of interest to you, just drop me a note to davef@suttonunited.net

I would definitely be interested. Suggestions from me are sections of London Loop, Wandle Trail and the North Downs Way. Great idea Dave !
