Although it's our "lowest" league placing, our points total of 70 beat our 5th place finish in 08/09 (67 points), and our "lack of scoring goals" isn't actually much different from last season. 66 this season compared to 68 from last season. The goals against is better, letting in 49 compared to 53.
5 years of management - W106 D55 L49.
That's a win ratio of over 50%. You won't find many managers with a budget like ours who can beat that!

If two of those poor draws at the start of the season had been wins as they should have been we'd have finished 4th. Such a tight margin. I think keeping the majority of this squad will give us a good start next season and if we win the SSC that will be 10 straight wins in all competitions, a great record by anyone's book.

To be honest you could say that about a number of draws. But this season clearly if Dundo's goal at Dover, in the last minute, had not been incorrectly ruled offside, we'd have been there. So taking away some of the other ifs and buts, really our season was defined by 1 ref's decision at Crabble...

You could say that about the 'penalty' awarded in the last minute at Weston. Dos is still convinced that Jamie didn't foul that player and he had a better view than me so I'll go by what he says.
Dodgy refs aside, we threw away too many points at the start of the season all through our own doing. But that was almost a different team to the side that's won 9 straight games in one month. I think we will improve next season going by what I've seen so far.

Every side can point to matches like that. Pointless. Over a 42 game season we didn't quite make it. The problem when you look back at it is not winning until October. With that handicap it is unbelieveable that we have got as close as we have.

An average finishing position of 5th over the last two seasons isn't bad! For what it's worth, none of the other sides playing in next season's Conference South did better than that.
