I see that Stones face Faversham Town on Saturday in the Ryman South Play-off final. I say good luck to them as we really need them to blitz through the divisions to put pressure on the Conference bosses regarding 3 & 4g pitches.

I say good luck to them as we really need them to blitz through the divisions to put pressure on the Conference bosses regarding 3 & 4g pitches. All 2226 tickets sold within a couple of hours, so its a sell out. I hope the decision to allow 3G pitches is taken this summer, as it seems a bit unfair on other clubs if Maidstone suddenly got the OK, leaving clubs like us to play catch up?

Well not really, as they're in a completely different league with different rules. It's the Conference that won't allow it.

For those who missed the result...Maidstone beat Faversham 3-0 so will be back in the Ryman Prem next season.

Well not really, as they're in a completely different league with different rules. It's the Conference that won't allow it. The point I was making is that as of now 3/4G pitches are not allowed in the conference so we like others in our league cannot fit one. Maidstone are not subject to this but the way things stand they would be refused entry to the conference should they secure promotion next season. In reality the league are likely to change the rule to allow Maidstone to be promoted, which to me seems a little unfair on teams already in the conference. Although I entirely agree with the introduction of AP I do think all sides should be given the same opportunity to fit one before allowing a club in who already has one.

I suppose we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. It's a bit harsh to say it's unfair before any decision has been made - how would we know what the Conference would decide? I agree that it would be unfair if the Conference let Maidstone in without making them play on a grass pitch, and refused to let any other Conference club do the same - but neither has happened. No offence OS but I don't see the point in whinging about something that hasn't happened just because you reckon it might one day! If it does, I'll be whinging right along with you

I think it's a fair point. A decision for or against is needed this summer so clubs know where they stand. Leaving it until a club from below forces the situation would be poor should they at that point say yes. Personally I can't see the conference turning round and saying no to a promotion bound club with 3/4g. IMO it's a bit of a no brainer anyway given the level of use elsewhere in Europe and other sports. The rules just haven't caught up yet.

Yes, I agree with that - there's just no point in being annoyed with their decision until they've made it
