If drums were allowed into the ground, what would be the repercussions?

Tbh I think drums would be good. Our fans don't make much noise from the start (sorry guys but it's true) and having the drums along with songs etc would really make it feel like we're watching an important game rather than about 30 fans standing behind the goal silently making the match feel dull and pointless. The loud atmosphere would spur the players on surely, e.g yesterday if the fans were singing and playing drums it might work well to make the players play better. Honestly I was embarrassed that G's fans were making more noise than us even vocally, our fans would sing sutton, sutton! about once every twenty minutes and that was it. Pathetic effort from players and supporters alike and the introduction of drums would help in my opinion. I'm sure many disagree with me though Really appreciate you calling our efforts last night pathetic. I thought we did OK at getting a bit of noise going considering the circumstances. We didn't have a shot on target all game from open play, it was a poor game but there was a song up every time we got forward and looked positive. Any player who starts playing better because some special case music college drop out brings a drum along can go and play for another club as far as I'm concerned. I'm bored of people trying to suggest drums as a way to improve the atmosphere. The people in the ground make the noise, without people making noise in the first place a drum does nothing but drown things out and even then it adds little to traditional British terrace songs. It's not the Maracana, it's not our football culture and i f we had twenty more people joining in the singing nobody would say a word about drums because there would be a proper atmosphere. The same people try and get songs going, the same people don't join in and the same people moan and complain when we apparently don't make noise. If all the people talking clueless bollocks on internet forums decided to back the team with a bit of enthusiasm and vocal backing on the terraces we wouldn't have this tiresome subject of drums coming up every season. I can't wait for the first person to suggest we copy the speccy losers at Palace and set up an Ultras group with flag displays and flares...

Look, it's the truth that our fans don't sing a lot. I don't get to go to many games but when I do I go to the stand because I have two kids and I don't want them near men that chant w*nker every now and then. It's just so boring when everyone is sitting there quietly makes the game feel so pointless. Introducing drums would at least increase the noise in the stadium but if everyone is against it then why don't you just SING! Chanting sutton, sutton once in 20 minutes does not count as singing. The fans were pathetic against G's and against every other team I have seen play at GGL. If people refuse to sing then bring in drums just to make the game more lively! Otherwise just sing a song once every 3 mins or so and then it will make the game feel so much better!

If you don't think we make enough noise, come join us rather than sniping away on an internet forum

I love people who make no attempt to improve the atmosphere themselves who then go and have a pop at those (and I include myself, since I lead what passed for our chanting t'other night) who lend our voices (and in my case t'other night, lose them) in support of our team. Come, join us and lend your voice. Heck, there was barely any swearing on Wednesday....

No one is really suggesting we bring drums along. The question more relevant is why are drums banned?

They are banned because they annoy the neighbours and it seems, the vast majority of the Sutton fans

This is nothing new. We are trying to be dragged into the world of chanting and singing when it is not in the nature of a Sutton crowd. For those who remember the great Larry Pritchard you will see a comment he made after the Amateur Cup Final in 1969 about Sutton's fans being like mice. 44 years on and we are still having the same conversations. C'mon Sutton now, C'mon you lads!
And by the way, drums at football tend to make me feel agitated, unable to concentrate watching the game and generally confrontational - don't know why, they just do.

In a big crowd it can be OK but when it's 40 people on rain sodden Tuesday playing Egham in the SSC it just looks a bit crap. It's never, ever OK!

For the people saying i should help the chanting I've already said I've got kids and i don't want them to go and hear the swear words that some fans use. I'm not necessarily for drums but if nobody will sing or make noise which is what I'd prefer then we may as well bring in drums
