Crazy football strikes again. Thurrock are relegated - docked points after a player hadn't paid a £16 Sunday Lg fine in 2011, 200 miles away. Surely there should be a central FA computer that clubs can check new players against?

There is but it is the responsibility of the club to check when they sign any player. So, Robins get out of jail. Their Guernsey trip is off now.

They can but they played a banned player so there is nothing ridiculous about it. Why should a Ryman Lgue club be treated differently to a Sunday Lge club?

The rules depend on your lawyers obviously: news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_conf/6496543.stmJermaine Darlington played 11 games for AFCW yet they successfully overturned a 18pt deduction which was reduced to 3pts leaving them still able to compete in the Ryman 06/07 playoffs. The punishment was seen as to big in light of what was a simply admin error. I would argue that the punishment of relegation is of similar harshness?

I'm keeping my head down. I've got an unpaid fine for three quid from the leatherhed and district dating back to 1980. If anyone was going to get out of jail on the bones of their arse through this kind of madness it is that mob.

Mark Stimpson? A few years back he was managing in League One, he got found out there pretty quick and now he'll be managing in the Ryman North. Maybe a change of career should be considered? In all seriousness I harbour no resentment to Carshalton (how can you when we have had the better of them for so long?) and would be happy to see them reprieved. However, the circumstances sound well and truly ridiculous.

In the NLP today, Thurrock stated that they did check the database and there was no evidence of this guy's suspension. However, Harlow did find him, so not sure what Thurrock checked as he would have been on the dbase all the time.

Apparantly there was some sort of cock up by the Ryman league as well so I believe Thurrock have a good case.

Anyone know any more about this? Seems like it's taking forever to sort out..the official sources (and unofficial ones) of all parties involved seem to be very quiet on the matter!

Last Sunday's NLP (16/6/13) said that Thurrock's appeal would be heard in the next two weeks.
