Chelsea FC Foundation will be attending the Stonecot Neighbourhood Watch "Family Picnic in the Park" this Saturday 18 May 2013,    12 noon till 3.30pm

Admission absolutely FREE!!



This is the 3rd year that Stonecot Neighbourhood Watch is holding our Family Picnic in the Park event it's Bigger, more fun for ALL the Family and Absolutely FREE!

Meet your Stonecot Safer Neighbourhood Police Team with a Police Dog and handler, sit in a Police Car, view the Mobile CCTV unit, speak with the Crime Prevention Team also register your Bikes!

Say hello to PCSO "Steve"!

We have a Sutton Station Fire Engine to climb onboard.

For the Boys and Girls of all ages we have Sutton Ramp Events to provide fully supervised Skateboarding

Premier Sports will provide Boxing Fitness, Fencing and Tri Golf Equipment

Chelsea FC Foundation - Fun Football Tech Session (non-contact) plus Beat the Goalkeeper. YES Chelsea FC Foundation!!

We have a very interesting mix of Music and Dance

Glenthorne High School will feature young musicians from Arts One Rock plus a Solo Artist. We are also very grateful to Glenthorne for providing their PA System and technical support


On the Dance front North Cheam Academy of Dance will display their pre school (audience participation) and Street Dance routines.

Ryan/Coleman Academy of Irish Dance will dance to a Jig or a Reel!

Finally we have Craft and Information Charity Stalls, a Face Painter and a Super Raffle Draw!

I think the Rec was renamed Sutton Common Park about 3 years ago and they have a committee called Friends of Sutton Common Park.

The old Tennis Courts have just been resurfaced and will be used by Sutton Ramp Events for this Saturday's Picnic in the Park. The new Pavilion will be completed this June!

I spent many a happy hour there when i was younger!

The pavillion was rarely opened but i did enjoy the tennis courts and there was a large putting green in front of the bowling green.The park keeper was a grumpy old whatsit who didn't appreciate us riding our bikes around.
Even got coached by Charlie Vaughan over there!

What about the Collingwood Rec Fun day tomorrow? I have only just noticed this news on the Official website under the Community section because it is a bit lost under a list of the 'Main' news items and all the banners on the homepage.

Shouldn't we be promoting things like that on here rather than about Chelsea FC being at Sutton Common Park?

You are right Simon, Collingwood Rec Fun day event should be on this Forum as well, after all there is no football going on!

Chelsea FC at Sutton Common is only the headline if you read the content you will read that our local charities, schools, Police, Sutton Fire Station, businesses under Kippa Bid Ltd have been bought together by Stonecot Neighbourhood Watch for a FREE day of fun in our Community!

Thank you to those people that have contacted me direct yes it looks like it will stay dry.

I remember the Putting green too - probably fell into disrepair about 15 years ago.

As a kid, we always tried playing football on the cricket green as it was the best maintained bit of grass in the place.

Sutton Common Park (or rec as it was then) was of course the birthplace of newly promoted to the Combined Counties Premier side Mole Valley SCR (SCR standing for Sutton Common Road/Rovers)

Currently ground sharing at Cobham FC but hoping to re-locate back to Sutton soon!

There was always Sunday football matches over there but i didn't realise Mole valley SCR came from there.
