Well, a good night. Crowd above my expectations, which was v pleasing and a good game too. Gunners were a youthful but classy outfit, their little no 10 (apparently just 15 years old) looked a clas apart & I thought we were in for a hiding.
But U's did well and looked good going forward and in the second half bloodied a few trialists of which Kudjodi, Rudnold (left back) and Swaibu (ex Bromley apparently) at centre-half did well. Rhys M-W also looked sharp at times whle Wayne pulled off one excellent save.
I believe the above is correct, because the team-sheet was wrong (subs anyway)and I couldn't hear a bloody thing from the tannoy.
Thought the ref was a tad over-officious for a friendly & booking Messr Slabber was totally avoidable and not giving Binnsy a free-kick in the first half a joke. Still, no doubt his first outing of the season so some leeway should be given I suppose.
All in all a v successful evening but for the injury to James Taylor. Ankle ligaments apparently.

The tannoy does need dealing with, surely it's a health and safety issue if it can't be heard by the majority of the crowd.

Worrying news about Jamie T (echoing Stefan Payne's injury very early in last year's pre-season), but otherwise a terrific evening - balmy weather, seven goals and a bumper crowd to help swell the coffers before the serious business starts. In the first half the young Gunners allowed us plenty of the ball but used it well when they won possession and took four of the half-dozen chances they created. Still, we were entitled to feel a tad hard done by to be 4-1 down at the interval. Our second half substitutions seemd to work better than theirs and we fought back impreessively, Kudjodi's goal setting up an exciting final ten minutes. All the Sutton goals were headers, two by players making their debuts. Janmie Slabber, a former Spurs trainee, will have relished his.

Very enjoyable. Particularly the final phase when it was our kids and trialists versus their next string. Some very classy stuff on show. Worried about the knock to JT and thought Dale was superb. Can't judge much from a pre season run out but after it looked at two nil like we might take a thumping I hope some of the many locals who rocked up will be back for more when the season gets going. I thought the organisation was excellent tonight for the bumper turn out. Great advert for the club.

A very open game as you would expect from a pre season friendly, and considering we have 2 games in 2 days, have only trained for a week and the side have never played together before you have to say it was a pretty good performance. No Harry tonight, I think he is still on holiday but is expected to return to us?
Surprising for a Arsenal side, they didn't dominate mid field or possession but were actually quite direct. We were doing most of the pressing and probing, but were punished by pace especially in the first half. Going forward we played some really neat stuff, no lumping or hopeful balls and other conf sth sides are going to find us a handful running at them. I think many sides will sit back against us, I know I would?
Fantastic crowd achieved by a lot of people putting a lot of effort, and these were all local supporters so lets hope they liked what they saw.
I have to say the ref was was a bit of plank, the booking never was and in a friendly too was completely ott. How he missed one of the most blatant trips you will ever see is beyond me?

Interesting looking at the photo of Jamie Stuart, as this goal was described by a gooner behind me as "a goalkeeping error, their bloke didn't have to get off the ground to head it in".

Good exercise for us, good crowd. We should really be beating sides like that comfortably but defensively we were still on holiday in the first half. Guess the result not a massive deal with all the other positives that came with the friendly but winning is a habit! 1st game so can't be too harsh! The whole team seemed to stop on a couple of the goals as they walked it in. That and a good free kick left us well behind despite being generally better in possession. Lots of good work from the youngsters in the 2nd half. We have plenty of cover up front instead of Taylor in Marv, Dundo and Benjamin so not overly concerned. Benjamin looked very sharp. Shame about Dean Sinclair as well. Sad in a way that so many locals came out to watch what must essentially have been an Arsenal U18s. Can only hope some actually thought their local side might be worth watching.
