Thoroughly outplayed throughout. Could have scored several more, Chelsea's finishing was poor. But they played 2 strong sides. We were out on our feet by the end. Over 2,500 there so a good boost to the coffers.
I would be seriously thinking about an extra pre season game or 2 against someone at a lower level (or similar) than us so we can try and establish a pattern of play and get some goals on the board. 2 more tough games v conference sides to come.
Would be nice to see some of the Chelsea lot back but not sure our side would have impressed much tonight? Hard to when the opposition is such a distance better. If just 250 of those came to 3 or 4 games a season it would make a big difference. Considering that Chelsea often don't play at home on Saturday at 3pm plenty of room to come along to their local team too. Well done to all who organised and advertised these games, good job. I hope you guys are rewarded long term.

So,what has happened to the Sutton team that finished last season so well? Early to judge but so far the only signing to have impressed is Dale Binns!

Great crowd and top marks to the club officials for pulling off four big games to give the clubs profile and resources a major boost. Got to say though that I am glad they are now out of the way and the focus can shift to getting some momentum going for our main players against sides more in tune with where we are and where we aspire to be. There was some real young talent on show in that Chelsea squad tonight but after gifting them an opener we did have our moments. I know we can't read too much into friendlies but I do get edgy about the prospect of going into the first competitive game without a bit of momentum and confidence in our sails. Plenty of time to get that going mind

Yep fantastic crowd, thats over 6000 in our first 3, friendlies and we can't sneeze at what that does for the club, we maybe very greatful for that come later in the season. Cannot take much from the games to date, we haven't seen Marv or Taylor really although first 2 goals tonight were nothing to do with the level of opposition. Up until the first goal we defended well and Dale was getting in behind the Chelsea defence almost at will. I think we need to look at our freekicks around the box as they seem to be more help to the oppos then us at the moment. I think we miss a player like Tom Jordan at the back as we have been caught napping at the near post a number of times over the 4 matches, and that causes me concern as we are going to see crosses like that all the time in the league.
Although the premiership XI sides have had talented youngsters in them who look good on the ball. It has to be remembered these are friemdly matches and if we played any of them for real, them youngsters would not get such a easy time from our more seasoned players and the result may differ?

That's the first half of our pre-season done. This was about getting people there and bringing money in for the club. And tonight the club showed that it can handle very well a 2500+ crowd. Oddly enough, the football was inconsequential to an extent, it was more about a good impression to a lot of people who'd never been to GGL before and we did that in spades. A huge congratulations to all those involved - it often gets overlooked about how much work needs to be put in behind the scenes. Your hard work really paid off.
I've not commented much about the football because it was always going to be a bit of a mix. Anyone who thinks that 4 defeats against superior teams like that (and lets face it, one player from those premiership sides will be probably earning more than our entire squad!) is showing that we are a poor side is very misjudged. But I said before, the next game is in my mind the most important of the PSF - Cambridge is a real test and I think its probably time to start getting a more stable line up going to make sure we are properly prepared for the new season. If we went out and stuffed loads of lower league sides in the PS, that's just as worthless as losing to every higher league side - it's about balance.
I agree with Delboy though, the new player who's stood out for me too so far has been Binns. Class!
Roll on the start of our footballing pre-season!

Cheers fellas for a top time today. It's an alright little stadium you have there and very friendly. Big crowd as I thought it would be and higher than the other 2 games! Sorry for all those smoke bombs and all that... I don't mind them personally and I saw the little kids run towards them but must have been a bit annoying.
Was in the Plough beforehand which was decent and yeah... Not half bad. Cheers and good luck next season!
