The Taylor binns combo looks like it should shred the nerves of a few defences. Can't wait.

Assuming there arent many injuries, how can Dos keep everyone happy this season? The squad is, on paper, near enough Conf national quality but I expect one or two departures within a few months if everyone stays fit. As mentioned, great problem to have and I see no reason the team shouldnt pick up where it left off last season. Horrible opening fixture though but doubt Eastleigh were too pleased and our lads have had one hell of a tough pre season so should be ready! Can't remember last time I felt this much optimism about a season.

The squad is, on paper, near enough Conf national quality That statement is very much unproven. We have one guy who could definitely play there and has proved it (Taylor). Then you'd think Downer is capable. Rents has experience of the level. Other than that there is no proof that this is a near conference quality side. Stuart in the past but now most probably not. Not to say it is not a very good squad for this level and only time will tell whether the statement is right. We look like we have a squad shaping up to challenge for a play off place and hopefully our strongest team for a number of years. Whether we can expect better than that is another matter. Will be interesting for sure who plays out of Dundas, Beautyman, Williams, Sinclair, Folkes, Riviere, Binns with seemingly 3 places up for grabs in the midfield. These things work themselves out though and we have cover for injuries within the squad. I would expect our strongest side at the moment to have Riviere, Folkes, Williams and Sinclair on the bench. I think Williams in particular can consider himself very unfortunate considering his form at the back end of last year. However he is not fit at the minute! And I note that Mark F thinks Sinclair will start so where does that leave Dundo. I guess we have to assume that Taylor and Slabber will at least start the season together bearing in mind the money we are putting into our forward line!! Nice problems.

I think he's implying fuseini is nailed on for a place in his opinion and the rest are up for the other 3.
Not seen enough games myself but personally quite impressed with Binns from what I have seen.

I've been impressed by Binns this pre-season and have always thought Fuseini is a great player for this level. I haven't seen Taylor play yet, except for 8 minutes in the Arsenal game, but hopefully he can get the goals we were missing last year. I also reckon Beautyman should start in our strongest XI

For me, assuming we play 4-4-2, it has to be Fuseini and Dundas starting in central midfield with Binns and Beautyman in the wide positions.
If we're defending a lead in the final quarter then I'd bring on Riviere for Dundo. If we need a goal then it might be Sinclair for Fuseini. There's also the option of bringing on Folkes as an impact player on the right and moving Harry infield in place of one of the others.
Upfront, depending on fitness, I can see Slabber and Taylor starting with Williams coming on for either Taylor or Binns.

Going on previous seasons and the squad we have, I think the only 2 nailed on players (barring injury and suspension) are Lovelock and Stuart. The former for obvious reasons, and the latter for just as obvious reasons! With the array of talent available in midfield, it may well be that Dos goes for a more attacking midfield 4, especially if we are chasing a game or we are playing a side which will buckle with that sort of approach.
On the right you'd have to start with Harry, mainly because I think Folkes has a lot of work to do on his crossed and delivery (which more often than not don't hit the mark!) - if he gets that right, he really will be in contention of being a first team regular.

Would put my house on him starting provided fit and turning up on time if Dos didn't read this forum, as it is I won't as he might tuck me up just for a giggle! I have gone with the same 4 as AA for now. It's a long season though and we will need them all either for injuries or to rest tired legs, or maybe just to adapt to oppo. Looking forward to the start of the real action! No harder start than where we are going 1st day so an exciting KO to the season.

Thats why I said 'on paper' and 'near enough'. Indeed unproven but there is so much football league and conf national experience in the side and I honestly think we have an embarrassment of riches this season. Could the team we have survive in the conf national? You have to say it would have a chance but we have the arguably the bigger challenge of getting out of this league, hopefully by winning it, and thats never going to be easy however experienced the players are. We all know football is not played on paper, but my opinion is that if I was a supporter of any other team in this league I would look at the players Sutton have signed and think we were the team to beat.

Just to help Dos out (!) I would go with Beautyman, Fuseini, Dundas and Binns, with the 2 Jamies up front. I think the back 4 is still a bit iffy at times, but I would be surprised if we didn't start with Nelson, Downer, Stuart and Rents.

I would go for: Tom Lovelock Mitchell Nelson, Sam Rents, Jamie Stuart Simon Downer Ali Fuseini Dean Sinclair Harry Beautyman Craig Dundas Jamie Taylor, Jamie Slabber Moses Swaibu for Mitchell Nelson would be something I would look at this weekend? I can't find a space for Binns or Marv which is just terrible
