I've honestly never been as excited as this to go to Eastleigh. I know I've set the bar low though....

Should be an absolute cracker tomorrow - easily the game of the day! I would be ecstatic if Johnnie's prediction of 3-1 came good - I'd take a draw if it was offered to us now!
Going for a line-up of: Lovelock, Nelson, Downer, Stuart, Rents, Fusieni, Dundas, Folkes, Binns, Slabber and Taylor
Subs: Riviere, Williams, Swaibu, MacDonald, Sinclair.

I wouldn't bank on my prediction being correct! Really disappointed to be missing this and the next two home games (there won't be podcasts for these). Looking ahead a bit, we should be beating Staines and Stortford

Without being pessimistic I would think 3-1 the other way is more likely. Although I think we'll have a strong season, Eastleigh are strong favourites for a reason and I have doubts our defence can keep them out tomorrow.

I reckon 3-2 either way, I think we will score and conceed and its a lottery as to which way it will go especially being so early in the season.

I agree that Dos won't pick that side. He's not likely to drop his Captain.I don't know where you fit Dundo in but for me Ali & Dean are the best central midfield partnership we have.

I don't think that I have ever seen us win at Eastleigh and it didn't look like that was going to change at any stage this afternoon really. Eastleigh were physically more powerful than Sutton and have a well organised back line. We had neither the strength nor guile to trouble them. The goal was messy and a bit disappointing defensively. We failed to clear a corner, the ball went wide again towards the corner taker and I thought we were slow to react and close him down. After the goal not a lot happened. Eastleigh broke the game up with a lot of niggling fouls and despite having quite a few set pieces as a result we did absolutely nothing with any of them. The unbeaten run is over!

I heard the match on Spitfire Radio which is a excellent service. It was a blow to lose Jamie in the warm up and we did little until the last 10 mins when Rents came off and Dean Mac came on to suggest we could score. If I understand right the Eastleigh scorer knew little about his touch for the goal, and after the break there appeared little between the sides. But yet again we concede to a set piece another corner which apart from a couple of lazy pass backs have accounted for virtually all of the 20 goals we have conceded. At the other end we are wasting set pieces, apparently 3 or 4 which failed to make their keeper work.
I still say we need another quality defender in their, 9 games against all types of opposition now without a clean sheet is not good.

A scrappy game as opening fixtures often are. I thought we started pretty well and looked far more threatening with dundo playing up front as an orthodox centre forward. Gave their defenders some problems and allowed Jamie t a bit of space to play off him. Couldn't really understand the tactics of shoving dundo out wide left later on when what we really needed was to rough up the lumps in Eastleighs well marshalled defensive line. We rocked up bang on kick off and I understand slabs injured himself in the warm up. We were wasteful with our set pieces A number of free kicks outside the box didn't get much further than the edge of the Pen area and our corners seemed off beam. One off those free kicks came from a body check on JT when he was breaking free on goal and there was a strong case for a red but the ref seemed easily intimidated by the home side throughout the afternoon. Was always going to be a tough opener but in truth there wasn't a huge amount between the sides other than one decent finish when maybe we should have had the ball away before the chance dropped. Anyway. I'm not too concerned but would have been nice to have come away with something. Finally. Eastleigh. What a shithouse. All this money on wages when they can't even be arsed to stick some terrace steps under the covered side so you can actually see the game when it starts raining. Pathetic. And still making up their attendance figures to inflate their own egos. As Alan partridge would say that's just saaad. Onwards.

A very quiet start to the season by both sides. In fact this match very much mirrored last season's fixture at Eastleigh.
They missed one good chance before scoring and after that very little happened for the rest of the game. We never troubled Flitney and Tom made one superb stop in the second half.
Obviously a blow to lose Slabs in the warm up and also not be able to use Dale Binns. A bit of an injury jinx running at the moment. It must be said though that Dundo worked hard having been originally named as sub.
Thought skip & Downer were very good today but the home side were strong at the back and in midfield but for all the strike power they've brought in they were nought special going forward; a credit to our defence.
One part of the Eastleigh performance we could have done without was their constant whingeing and fair play to the ref for not taking too much of it. He was ok for the most part and we will see alot worse I suspect over the next 9 months.
Can't complain about the result today and we certainly didn't play badly. They were just that bit stronger, particularly in the first half. We saw more of the ball in the second half and showed alot of purpose. Both sides struggled to fathom the wind when it was on their backs.
Oh and the other point, their announcer. Previously it was an egotistical idiot, last season it was a less than diplomatic lady and this time, well, it was his first go and his ability to identify the home scorer let alone pronounce his name was laughable. And for pointing that out at the time (without swearing too) I got a ticking off from a lady steward. Even more laughable. Welcome back to the Connie South!

At the other end we are wasting set pieces, apparently 3 or 4 which failed to make their keeper work. Go back to the reports cos you are way out. In the Chelsea and Arsenal games for a start the only set piece from 8 goals was a direct free kick which short of not giving away the free kick in the first place you can't do much about. Pretty sure Wimbledon was only 1 corner. So that is a lot of goals already from other means though I don't disagree it is an area to tighten up on. I do also agree we are a defender or 2 light. Though our defensive record last year was reasonable I don't think it will be enough to win the league. That is why I think play offs are where we will end up. Time will tell and I trust Dos and co to get as much as they can from the budget.

What was up with Binns? Any word on Jamie's injury?
