One of my best memories (going back many years) was winning a cup replay at Waterlooville - with Micky Preston dominant in our defence. Remember that night too. 'ville's best gate for years. Standing behind that goal in the second half with 1970's Pompey yobbos surrounding us as was a tad unnerving but got out alive. It was 1975 and a certain current club shop manager drove me and my mum down there in his green Hillman Hunter.

One that many have forgotton or be too young to remember, was late 1982 FA Cup 1st round replay vs Bishops Stortford. We were still in pain over the FA Trophy defeat and were 1 down in the replay at GGL with less then 5 mins to go. We knew the winner was away to Swindon town in the 2nd round and I had never seen us play league opposition. Whenever I think of John Rains it will always be that last 5mins when he turned the match around with 2 headers that sent us to the county ground, where of course a guy called Pritchard ended the dream. in added on time.

Steve Millington and I sneaked off school that afternoon to travel to Waterlooville on the Supporters' Club coach, I remember Steve brought a can of Special Brew which we drank to celebrate the win, only time I have tried that awful stuff. The games master at Sutton Manor wasn't pleased we had bunked off but found it hard to complain too much - he was U's manager after all !

Its a shame it doesn't pick up Joyce's run he ran from the half way line and it seem to take him 5mins to get to the box. It was a great experience!

Anyone got a heads up on the parking arrangments down at Whitehawk? Ive heard its iffy and as they can expect a big crowd by their standards may well be tight for parking space close to the ground. I am giving my elderly neighbour a lift who rarely gets to an away game these days and don't really want to hike in from Roedean if I can avoid it.

I am not sure what Directions Tony is going to give, but I advise all to avoid Brighton Town Centre, take the A27 at Brighton Roundabout, make sure you avoid the left hand lane in the slip road as that will take you all the way around to Worthing 'Easy mistake to make' Take the A27 towards Lewes and as you get to Falmer stadium on your right come off the A27 at roundabout take woodingdean Rd (as suggested very pretty). Go as far as the Downs hotel on your right and turn right into Warren Rd, the ground is down there somewhere The oldest trick in the book for getting to Brighton seafront without the hassle.

Who's going this Saturday then? Embarking on another FA Cup run - hoping we fare better than last seasons dismal efforts.
Looking forward to it
