I make that our 1st away league 5-0 win since August 2005 vs Dorchester and it was worth the wait. I don't think H&W previous results suggest they are a bad side having held Eastleigh 0-0, beaten WSM and lost by the odd goal as we did to Stortford, this was not us bashing a bottom of the table side. Everything came together today from the perfect pitch to the return Slabber and we were allowed space. We made Staines look a poor side when given space and today we were quite frankly awesome, we defended well apart from a couple of early errors with Mitch putting in his best performance in a U's shirt.
H&W were never closer to us then the 1st 20mins or so which saw a couple of shots wide from them and the Tommo catching on the line which ref said wasn't over? From Haysworth's superb goal we simply took more and more control of the match until it looked like men against boys. Our movement was fantastic, Binns work rate is amazing, Slabber had to be subbed to stop Dos from walking home or asking around for his bus fair. Tommo is getting better and better, ever alert good distribution and the back 5 with Charlie in there deserve credit for building the foundations of today's win.
I honestly think our performance today would have beaten any side in the division, lets not start saying its because they were poor as many thought Staines were. Credit where credit is due that was a performance which will have Eastleigh and Bromley reaching for the Andrex and we are not even at full strength yet.
I want to give MOTM to Mitch for the balls he has shown to go out there under pressure and show the concentration to match the quality he has!
