Its interesting that with the lack of Premiership football today that the 2 conference south matches played attracted much bigger crowds then of late: Farnborough v Hayes : att 714 Havant v Basingstoke att 956 I also think the age poll, is underlining the fact that we are not picking up and keeping supporters under the age of 30, with 79% above 30 and 62% above 40 being a little concerning? It could also show that average age of people who read this this site is above 30, rather than give an accurate reflection of the age range of those attending matches.

Re. targeting senior schools I think you can be very specific. I know the pe guys at Wilsons fairly well and they have a great football set up. When I was there I played am and went to watch U's pm. Should be easy enough to find a full Sutton Wilsons Sat fixture that ties in with a U's home game. Could easily organise distributing free tickets to those participating, so you know are definitely interested in football too. There could be upwards of 12 fixtures and therefore very easily and specifically targeting over 250 kids playing football locally.

Hi, The targeting of schools has already started and hopefully three schools will be well represented next Saturday, and this will an ongoing feature throughout the season. We already have some excellent relationships with local schools.
Dug-Outs - this has been done to death, we know they need to go and they are a big mistake but it will cost into 5-figures to rectify. It's on the agenda !
The moveable goals - we can look at that.
Ad boards - they are where the sponsors want them.

I can't think of many clubs getting feedback as quick from management.

No I don't think so as it echoes the suggestion to me which was that we have a gap in the teen to early 20s age group and if you look around GGL on a matchay that is what you see. The club is right to target secondary schools but could also look at 18-25 to see what can be done there, pubs and clubs of which some of you frequent could be one area?

The transparent dug-outs, of a size to comply with league rules, are between £3-4k each ! Then add demolition and installation costs.

If so , why not just knock down 2 of them ? That would be a start. Despite those lovely , friendly turnstile operators GGL can seem spartan and uninviting , especially on a cold winter's evening. I've sat in the main stand for the past five seasons and can report that it's not just the dug-outs causing problems. The seats are too small with no legroom and it's hard to find one where your view of at least one goal is not obscured by the girders. You also can't hear a word coming over the tannoy.

You can get hooked when young - like I did many years ago, then drift away. the reason could be work, further education on in some cases boy/girlfriends. Suttonambyth can you relate to that?Fortunately I started coming again over 30 years ago.

The gaps in my Sutton United 'watching career' are exactly 18-25 - combination of working, socialising (non-stop) and having lots of 'distractions' during that period. Regular attendance would have been impossible for me at that time and I was probably one game per season.

Billy, you could probably have all the leg room you want and an unobstructed view of the pitch but unfortunately by the time we wholly redeveloped the ground (to your spec), stopped selling replica shirts and food, remove advertising (and lose the income) and reduce the admission prices you would only be able to see an empty pitch (uncut)!

My gaps are also uni years (though I still went a little) and a gap year winter in SA playing cricket. Then spent Sat afternoons playing post uni up to about 28ish?? I then worked out it was a lot more fun watching good players than being bang average (or worse!) travelling all over London and trying to train and work. Do we have much of a 16-18 year old group now? And is there anything that can be done to engage so as not to lose them post further education? Maybe not but worth thinking about.
