In response to the 'Crowds in NL' thread it was suggested to me that we are not attracting all age groups and I wondered if its true?
No need for name, or any other response as its nothing to do with MI5, but we it reveal a gap???

Please ages keep your ages coming, I think it is telling us something interesting if not a little concerning?
It should also be remembered that although most people of all ages have access to the internet most who are missing will be those over 50.

I think it's a great idea to look into the demographics of our crowds and thus better identify how to target potential new fans. Without wishing to criticise, I do have a background in social sciences and feel it should be pointed out that all this will do is tell us the age mix of those who use this forum. It's a start though, and I put together a fans' survey a while back that I never did anything with, so I'd be happy to get that out if the club are happy for us to survey the crowds.

It's a start though, and I put together a fans' survey a while back that I never did anything with, so I'd be happy to get that out if the club are happy for us to survey the crowds. As it says at the top of the page 'Were in this together' so I cannot see the club turning down anything potentially positive for the benefit of the club. I think a properly worded survey is a great idea as you say 'age' is just one aspect of a far more complex picture. Further questions would be 'where do you live'? I suspect that quite a few live outside the borough. Another question I never know how to ask politically correctly is about ethnic origin. It has to be a concern that as the demographics of our catchment area changes, that of our support appears not too? We have a lot of black players but very few if any black supporters? We are not picking up Asian or Eastern European fans either. If we truly want to be a community club we need to appeal to all areas of it. I tend to get myself in trouble sometimes for not being very PC, but I wouldn't mind seeing a day aimed at our local ethnic community?

No need for name, or any other response as its nothing to do with MI5, but we it reveal a gap??? If you had a 51-60 group and then a 61+ you may find we have a good spread of all age groups. By putting so many in one group distorts the result. It looks to me we have a good range of fans at Sutton.

Another question I never know how to ask politically correctly is about ethnic origin. How about, "What is your ethnic origin"? Seriously though, that's pretty normal wording. Yes, I would also ask where they lived, as well as how often they watch Sutton, what's brought them here today in particular, and what would they like to see the club do that would encourage them to visit more often. Also might be an idea to ask how many children (who live with them) they have and whether they bring them/if not why not and what could change to encourage them to do so. And maybe whether they have a season ticket for or regularly attend matches at any other club.
