As an alternative to the earlier Bromley thread, which was all about the build-up, here's a new one for what really matters - the game itself.

Another good performance from the lads today, perhaps we should have scored a couple more goals, but the result is the most important. That's 6 games without letting in a goal now, and we have the best goal difference in the league.

Thought we were very average 1st half without giving much away but upped it and controlled the 2nd (save for a couple of very good chances given away early on). Well done Tom who made a great stop from a 1 v 1 start of 2nd half when their guy should have scored. He has had little to do for sometime but came to the fore when required. Whilst not at our best sets us up for 2 weeks time back at the Lane. We'll have to be better then. Other mentions thought Nelson and Binns were good as full backs and good to see Nelson has come back so well from his start at the club and is now full of confidence. Rivs, Ali and Dundo much better 2nd half and got control of the game. Class finish from Slabs. Had a few young Bromley saddos in my ear 2nd half, they need to expand their song book - not the sort of support your club wants, moving to wind up home support rather than actually getting behind their team. Having said that at least they were harmless and just a bunch of kids.

First half never really got going. Second half as has been said we upped it and slabs finished superbly after great work from dundo. Yes we could have had more but lets not forget bromley are still second and above us and apart from a couple of scares when they broke down the right from the ball up and over we had them where we wanted them all day long. It's a cliche but sometimes you've just gotta grind out the win and our lads did that with a highly professional performance which didn't reach some of the recent heights but no problem with that at all. Good crowd in not particularly enhanced by the hormonal voice breaking squeals of the Bromley Inter ZItty Firm. We are in good shape for the tough game looming large next week.

Credit where credits due. The first half were 2 teams than cancelled each other out. You could see that Bromley are a very good side in this division, with discipline in their shape, some good players and a nice balance. Which makes this win even more satisfying. We needed a bit of magic to break the deadlock provided by Dundo and Slabber. We're looking so strong at the moment, this side is proving its quality.
MoM for me could have been Tom - didn't have much to do but when he did, he did it perfectly, but I'm going to give it to Skip. Faultless all day, and showing leadership which I felt was missing a bit last year.
Next 3 league games are away against 2 of the bottom 3 and home to the top side in the league. Get those games sorted, we go top.

I thought we completely bossed the second half, never giving them a second on the ball. A number of their players were visibly wilting towards the end, when the last sub's board came out you could see about 4 players looking over hoping it had their number on it! Strange when we have the most experienced and prolific strike partnership for many years, we still have trouble scoring. Could certainly have done with a second goal today to wrap things up, but Bromley got what their performance deserved, nothing.

I think some of the comments have given Bromley too much credit. We were the better side in the first half and were far better in the second. I expected more from Bromley!

Agree they weren't up to much, seen better sides this season - guess still early days and the league table will tell us more at Xmas. Expected them to be far livelier going forward given the goals they have put away this year. Thought their captain was decent defensively.

Well I thought we pretty much bossed the match from the first minute to the last, except for those 2 chances just after the break. I thought we defended high up the pitch gave no time on the ball to the Bromley midfield and restricted them to absolutely zilch in the 1st half. Our play up to the box was far superior to Bromley's yet we lacked that final telling pass most of the afternoon which could or should have turned a 1-0 into a 3-0. Not sure I can give too much credit to a side that came to sit deep and showed little or no ambition until we scored and then simply were not good enough on the day to put us under any pressure at the end.
The credit should go to our boys for making a good side look very ordinary indeed, they didn't cope with our shape in the end with Binnsey ripping them to shreds. Dean Mc is class, Slabs and Taylor are a handful and a word for Rivs and Tom who I thought were both excellent today. My MOTM has to be Mitch, fantastic all afternoon and its great to see him turn around a really dodgy start and show us what he can really do.
One more thing apart from one dodgy decision on the edge of our box, I thought the officials were top drawer today. I really loved the foul throws bit, I have long since thought that most throws nowadays are illegal anyway?

As has been said the first half was tight in that there were few clear cut chances but U's were the more dominant attacking force.
In the second, May had that opportunity when they broke early on but Tom made the save and from then on U's were by far the better side. The goal came down to Dundo retrieving the ball and squeezing a cross for Slabs sublime finish. JT probably should have scored with his diving header but U's were comfortable or as comfortable as a team can be with a one goal advantage.
Bromley had one opportunity right at the death but Tom smothered the ball and U's were done and dusted.
Not our best performance and that has to be, in some way, because Bromley provided strong if not enterprising opposition. Well organised but pretty limited up front. Again, skip and SD were excellent limiting the Bromley forward line and when they went down the flanks Mitchell Nelson (another great game from him, particularly that tackle as they threatened to break late in the game) and Dale Binns (and latterly the returning Sam Rents) were just too strong.
Finally a great little cameo from Cloughy up front too.
MOM for me was difficult as all who played put a tremendous amount of effort in but I would suggest skip or SD would be high on the agenda again.
Finally, pretty good match for the ref too. No fuss, no silly yellow cards. Probably the best we've had this season.

Best summary I've seen or heard on today - thought that Bromley kept it very tight in the first half and it was just a case of being patient, would go with Mitch for MotM.
