I think some of the comments above are a little hard on Bromley, who, in the first half at least, looked about the best side we've played this season and did enough to show that their second place in the table is no fluke. Tom didn't have many saves to make, but the ones he did make were quite difficult ones, not least the one-on-one with May early in the second half. But let's give the Sutton team some more credit. Our defence has now played over 540 minutes without conceding a goal. With resilience like that at the back, and a goal poacher like Slabbs up front, we're going to be nicking a few more narrow wins in tight games like this. Early days still, but that's the sort of form that wins titles.

Thought we were very average 1st half without giving much away but upped it and controlled the 2nd (save for a couple of very good chances given away early on). Well done Tom who made a great stop from a 1 v 1 start of 2nd half when their guy should have scored. He has had little to do for sometime but came to the fore when required. Whilst not at our best sets us up for 2 weeks time back at the Lane. We'll have to be better then. Other mentions thought Nelson and Binns were good as full backs and good to see Nelson has come back so well from his start at the club and is now full of confidence. Rivs, Ali and Dundo much better 2nd half and got control of the game. Class finish from Slabs. Had a few young Bromley saddos in my ear 2nd half, they need to expand their song book - not the sort of support your club wants, moving to wind up home support rather than actually getting behind their team. Having said that at least they were harmless and just a bunch of kids. But who was the pied piper they followed into our end? Wierd!

Great win that should have been much more comfortable. Slabber's missed header from 5-yards was truly horrible.
Negatives aside, it was the most complete team performance of the season against a side with title ambitions.
Binns was fantastic yesterday (one defensive slip-up in the second half aside) and is a real pleasure to watch. Skip and Downer are getting better with each game I watch.
Great home gate as well, if only that many Suttoners could turn out all the time. Even with Bromley's healthy away following there must have been 650-700 Sutton fans judging from who shouted and clapped the goal!
As for the spotty band of juvenile supporters. They made a bit of a noise, great for them. The fact remains that if they carried on with that level of disrespect (even after the game at the train station), chanting 'sutton's a shithole' and similar or worse, they would have got a good hiding. I saw a group of young lads get seven-bells for less than that at AFC Telford a couple of years ago, and saw similar at Leek Town. Hopefully they wise up a bit before one of them returns home to mummy with a broken nose.

It was great to see a few "Legends" at the game yesterday, including Larry Pritchard, John Faulkner, John Shears, Bob Mapleson and Paul McKinnon, alongside former assistant manager and regular U's fan Ken Ireland and Paul's dad John.
It was also nice to see such a good attendance, nearly 900 for a game that emphasised the style Paul is trying to develop. Perhaps the most significant comment on the game came from Larry, who has a well deserved reputation for being hard to please, "I thought they played well, made use of the pitch". Now, that's high praise indeed !!
I'd also like to offer belated congratulations to Larry, who was recently voted Wycombe Wanderer's best-ever player (Mark, I think that's what you said !)

He was Dave, although I'm not sure he wanted it publicised - it wasn't even Larry who told me. What an accolade. They've been in the football league for 20 years now and before that had some amazing players (Horseman, Powell, Delaney, Horsfield, Searle etc). So, to be voted the top of the pile is really something.
But then should we be surprised? Larry is full of humility but he deserves such high honour and will all due respect to our current crop of talent and those before them, Pritch, for me, is still The Legend of the Lane.
Janice Pritchard still misses her football on a Saturday afternoon but can't get Larry off the golf course.
Great to see Macca and Macca Senior, the two John's and Bob too. Always a delight to see our former players back at The Lane.

Great to see those legends there - if there is one player responsible for me getting hooked as a Sutton fan it's Paul Mckinnon.
His superb headed goal against Aldershot in 1987 (my 3rd ever match) was enough to convert me to a Sutton till I die supporter - (apologies for the slightly distorted sound)

I have one observation from that clip. The state of the GGL pitch. The Aldershot match was in early November! Terrible.

Thought you lot played well and as mentioned each team cancelled each other out. Sutton then almost had control of the second half. I was at the station as well when they made their noisy entrance onto the platform (I could hear it over my earphones!). I'm all for enthusiasm but they sounded like they were just doing it to wind people up and to look good. It failed. I thought the young lad behind us was more respectful than they were! The "retarded goat" line has almost gone down in history now
