Popping my cherry in this forum, be gentle!
3 years ago my Dad newly retired at the time discovered his health had taken a turn for the worst as is so often with people who stop work suddenly. Sport is such a passion in his life and he's had to cut back on his participation in recent years. So the guy had very little to do in his house in gander green lane. My suggestion 3 years ago was he get out of the house and try out Sutton Utd, the rest they say is history.
Every Saturday you'll see my old man laughing and joking away in the stands. He gives me an up to date txt every week when I can't make it due to my palace season ticket.... In the last year my dad has made a full recovery and is fighting fit with the hospital giving him the all clear.
I'm not say Mr Doswell has healing hands but things like this help. Just like to say thanks to Paul and the boys but most importantly the fans for your banter and great chat my dad enjoys so much every Saturday.
So here's wishing my old man and you boys a happy future with a home tie against Palace in the 3rd round thrown in for good measure.
All the best
Ben

What a lovely post Ben - really happy our little club has played a small part in making your dad better. It's these sorts of stories that make everything worthwhile!

Great post Ben.
Unfortunately, I had a premonition that we will get Arsenal away in the FA cup 3rd round so we will have to play you in the 4th round!

Superb story Ben, it is great to hear your dad has made a full recovery. You could send that account to the non league or local paper. I’m sure it would be printed in both.
All the best to your father.
