Yes, it maybe the day when some stay in bed to avoid catastrophe, but tomorrow is also the 44th anniversary of my first SUFC match,an Amateur Cup tie with Leatherhead. My question is, where the hell have 44 years gone? Answers on a postcard please?

Up in smoke ?
Calcio Chieti contacted us today, would like to arrange some sort of game to mark the 35th anniversary of the cup final there, and also their 90th anniversary.

Out of interest Mr F, how many games have you missed in that 44 years?

Although I'd like to say " I saw my first SUFC Match before you ( Feb 68 an Amateur Cup tie v Slough Town )", I've probably only seen about a quarter of the matches you have Frakey, congratulations on being a staunch U's Supporter for 44 years, long may it continue.

Hi Andy. I've no idea is the honest answer. Between a league game at Hendon in the 72/3 season and an early season game in the 85/6 season (v Epsom & Ewell I think), I didn't miss a game other than the two group matches in Italy in '79. That Chieti final was my first ever trip outside England. I saw most of the games in the Conference years (86-91), although gallingly not the 9-0 win at Gateshead as I wrote off my car in the early hours of that morning.
Since getting married (quell surprise !) I have missed a few more games each season and for family reasons I have even started going on holiday during the season for the warm weather, so I'd say I miss 4-5 games per year but this year has been particularly poor, as I am working in Docklands and have to miss the away midweek matches.

Happy anniversary Frakey, I can't believe you waited until your 40's to go to your first game!!
Has the quality of the officiating improved much over the years?

In answer to your question Andy, more than you may think. The vast majority of matches I missed was between 72/3 & 74/5 season when as a ball boy I had to do ressies matches on Saturday, so if I missed a first team game I was still watching Sutton. Since the 75/6 season, on average I think I've missed one per season. I have yet to work out how many matches I have seen but probably close to 1800 senior games.
The Chieti Final was my first trip abroad too, although being a pauper I went by train with 6 others including KBB.
That's two posts now Cez, you're becoming almost prolific!

You need a computer Mark! A click of a button tells me I've seen 1,446 Sutton games.

I have one but, I've not got the matches I attended listed. Never been a priority tbh. I'll do it one day. Such is my ridiculous brain I can remember the matches I missed and in most cases, why.
