Thanks Rambo for finding this - I thought this was too much of an important article to be tucked away in a thread about Ex-Us nonleague.pitchero.com/news/doswell-brings-in-the-young-guns-27887/#_I don't want to make judgements on any decision made by the management team, who I still have great faith with, either to who they have brought in, or who they have let go. We all have our own opinions, and I'll leave that for others to discuss for the time being. Just a little thing on here - the article alludes the status of current and new players, so I'm just looking for clarification. Jamie Taylor - his month loan is up, so what's his current status? How many of the new guys are on loan or are with us as a Sutton player? I wish all the new arrivals the best at Sutton, and a thank you to Jamie (if he doesn't return) and of course to Sam for your efforts.

Ah.The revolving door!
Shame to lose Taylor though as I thought he was quality when fit.Seems like realistically, Dos has conceded the title and is going for the play off route. We have been inconsistent of late & it will be interesting to see how the new players fit in.Hopefully we shall see a match tomorrow against Gosport & find out.
Personally I didn't think we had a crisis and is that just paper talk?

Anyone who thought we had a crisis has a screw loose to be honest - we've had a dip in form, but it's the new year and we are still in a play off spot - somewhere we were nowhere near this time last season.
The only concern for me is we are having a lot of new players in who have not played much and not had a pre-season to prepare properly, but that in itself could sort itself out in a week or two. And we mustn't forget we have players like Dundas, Binns, Clough, Downer etc who actually have been pretty consistent all season.
No crisis at all from what I can see, but as you know people can be a lot quicker to be critical than to compliment. And also forget how well we have been playing at points this season - remember we got 3 points from the runaway leaders, and not many teams have done that.
You can bet that a couple of these new players will go on to become heroes this season or next. Give them a chance to do so.
And yes Delboy, agree - paper talk. Wouldn't surprise me if some of that has been mis-reported either as it's not consistent with things we've already been told. But even so, it won't stop a handful of idiots (and the odd idiot manager) from other teams thinking we had megabucks to spend.

It would appear that Dos didn't think the club was getting value for money and so has rung these changes. Good luck to all those who have departed and I think it is healthy too that Tom now has direct competition for the 'keepers gloves.
As for the new guys, let's hope they can bed in quickly and do well, although I think the main barrier to that happening will be the appalling weather we continue to experience.
As for crisis, well sitting 4th in an albeit tight division from 3rd down to 10th (at least) is hardly something to be tearing your hair out for. I think we were second from bottom at a similar stage last season, now that could have been seen as a crisis.
For the meantime, I think the Last Man Standing should become a "when will we next play prediction competition". Dover is a possibility because their pitch is on chalk and drains well but they have a Trophy tie on the 11th (I believe) and Chelmsford's pitch isn't great when attacked by the elements. And there appears to be no let up in this weather over next week.

Out of interest can someone tell me where we were in the league this time last season?

Firstly anyone who remembers early 2008 when we won just 2 from 18 and lost 9 games on the bounce between March and April will know what a crisis actually is.
Dos should have a statue erected in the car park for what he has done for our club in a few short years. If anything we (let me quantify that, the town) are letting him down by not getting the support in he and the team deserve. If Dos wanted too I am sure he could walk away tomorrow and his phone would be ringing with offers within minutes.
We are established as one of the top teams in the conference south now, and I fully expect Dos to keep us that way whatever changes he makes to the team. I am not sure why the Guardian suggest any serious discord within our ranks? This is a forum for discussion of topics such as players, team selection and how we are playing etc. There is nothing wrong with saying we played crap when we did or making views known on how we think we could be better, that doesn't mean the wheels are coming off!
The facts are that we have under performed over the first part of the season although we have shown glimpses of a team capable of challenging for the title we have been woefully inconsistent. Our left hand side has been exposed time and time again by weak sides and our midfield holding play has been non existent at times. Dos is right to make the changes now not only for budget reasons but because we do need to add some steel to that defence and midfield, and Tom needs to compete for his place between the sticks.

We dropped to 21st on the 19/01/13, although mainly because we didn't play a league match for a couple of weeks.

So we welcome Alex Wynter and Dammy Shitta to our squad in addition to David Gregory (which was announced a couple of days ago) as confirmed on the official site tonight.
A shame about the mass of changes recently but maybe it needed to happen - I will always back Dos, his staff and the decisions taken.
Here's hoping the game takes place tomorrow!

It's not often that I agree with OS, but I think his post above is spot on.
Mid-season changes to the squad are unsettling, but we should be used to that by now under Dos. His philosophy is that if something isn't working then it's better to change it sooner rather than later.
The reality is that up until the FA Cup 1st round we were doing pretty well. Since then we've lost our way and allowed Bromley to steal a march. Injuries to the two Jamies have probably scuppered any hopes of winning the division. Time to re-adjust!
I'm confident that if Dos stays at Sutton then eventually we'll make the Conference Prem. It may not happen in 2014 but we should keep the faith. Braintree and Welling (and potentially Bromley) have shown what's achievable for a club of Sutton's size.

what's Billy's view going to be.... Are you trying to get me in trouble ! My return to the fold , so to speak , coincided with Paul Doswell's tenure and he has done great things for all concerned as far as i can see. The thing that impresses me most is his ability to remember all the names of the hordes of players coming in and out of the club..................

Taylor should be back for the Dover game :)http://www.suttonunited.net/docs/Dos%20article.pdf That is at odds with the following comment from the Eastbourne manager as reported in the Argus last Saturday- "Widdrington said: “Jamie’s deal runs out after the Bromley game (on January 11). I have already started talks with Sutton to see where we go from here."
