Hi ,
With the revolving doors continuing at Margare and you becoming our feeder club, what are your views on the quality of players we have taken from you.
For weather and distance reasons, since this all started, haven't actually been able to fit in a game;so the fans view would be interesting.
Impression from afar is that the players taken were only fringe players with yourself-and maybe marginally past their best ;and no-one at sutton crying to much to see them go. That does not necessarily mean that they are not capable of holding their own in ryman, but there is not that big a gap between ryman and bss;as as they are signed with 'next season in mind' being a serious promotion push i am slightly dubious as to the quality.
Maybe someone could enlighten me on the relative strengths/weaknesses of the likes of rents, nelson, mcdonald, stuart, riviere (forget myself-can't keep up -is that the lot ?
(whilst folkes is released-early views from those who say him play were that he was pretty terrible so you do wonder why he was signed initially !)
Nb-our official site suggested imminent arrival of up to 4 more players this coming week -it did not say how many from sutton !!
any input appreciated. thanks
all the best

The way things are going mate I think your next signings from us will be the turnstile operators, the bar staff, the half time announcer and the Golden Goals sellers. I think you've already nicked our ball boys as I ain't seen em in months.

Stuart was our captain until going to you. Past his best, yes, but still a great leader and IMO still has a lot to offer at Ryman level. You have a VERY good signing in Riviere. Mcdonald is good, but can be over-fancy and gets caught out sometimes. Rents was our deadball specialist and a great crosser before an injury seems to have taken that out of him. Used to be one of my favourite players, but not sorry now to see him go. Then we come to Nelson. I've never been a big fan - When he's on the ball it's all to often 'heart in mouth' time.. I hope they all do a very good job for you next season - I think most of us at SUFC miss our trips to Margate!

Excuse me Bornatter.............what about the Stewards, or aren't we up to Margate's standards lol I miss our visits to Hartsdown too, was a nice easy run for me when I was living near Maidstone

Well I am happy to confirm that I intend staying in my turnstile at GGL.
Unless of course Margate want to make me an offer!!!!

I don't think you could call them fringe players. They were pretty much 1st team players until Dos decided to ring the changes over the last few weeks. It's still to be determined if the new signings are better than the players moved on, although a win at Basingstoke is a good start.

thanks chaps-appreciated.
fairly re-assuring, though interestingly mirror your thoughts-are these new players better than the ones they are replacing(folkes definately was'nt apparently even before he got sent off )
like the comment from bornatotter-what do they say-careful what you wish for ?
as i also posted-4 more margate signings promised this week-anymore from sutton we wonder ?
sorry-don't feel quite the same about your ground-its that damn running track. new ground promised for us lot though-and this time its really happening we are told. all the best

Can't agree with Rambo about Hartsdown Park. What's to like about a 3 sided ground? I do vaguely remember our visit there in 1972 when it was four sided but now, it is very ordinary. We've never won there either.

Margate have now signed Nikki Bull, the sensitive ex-Aldershot keeper.
