No Ratty, we are critical when club's are bankrolled, and buy success. This is a release of a small amount of funds, plus input from the supporters in an emergency situation.
Bit like AFC when the Dons' trust started really.

But if the club/supporters inject a "significant" increase in the playing budget this year, what happens next year and the year after? You will have to sustain whatever you increase it to, otherwise risk losing the good (sic) players you would have acquired in the meantime. Maybe you should be asking your club officials about how sustainable this all is?

We are not attempting to buy success. This is the difference. And also, the 'significant' increase may not be as significant as we'd expect. We are having an exceptional season, and not in a good way either. If of course we survive this and the same thing happens next season then maybe a drop would be an only option. I think the club officials, going on past form, would not be doing this if there was any risk whatsoever to the club.
If this was the case at AFC, what would you do about it?

Maybe the increase in wages is just to cover us until the end of this season ratty, to try and get us out of a hole. It will be sustainable....until the end of the season when the contracts expire. I'm not sure if you realise ratty, but when a contract expires or a player is released, then a club doesn't have to pay the player a wage any more. Even you must've got the hang of this employer/employee relationship thingy by now

Gareth - yes my point exactly. If you acquire loan players or players on ST contracts, then srely you are back to square one in the summer. You're only pretext for such a policy (other than short-term excapism) is that you may have a young squad/team that will come through next year. I don't know enough about you to say whether this is true or not.
And yes, I think I have the hang of employment law thank you, but I'm not sure that was my point anyway!
Re Wimbledon, I'm aware that Andy K allegedly knows someone at DTB level although he's never spilled the beans on who this may be - IIRC this "individual" was against our protest against the original 18pt deduction last season, so may be more than happy to retain his or her anonymity, if such a person every existed outside Andy's imagination!

Ratty, if the budget is say 2.5k a week, then a 500 quid increase could be seen as 'significant'. It is after all a rise of 20%. You're making it sound like we're already laying out 6k a week and lumping in another 2 grand to get us out of the sh*t!

Bit harsh there I think Ratty. I do indeed know someone at AFC who isn't just a random supporter, and its a relative of mine. What I don't have to do is tell you their name, address, name of their pet dog and inside leg measurement. If you think they only exist is my head, then thats your issue. But I also knew Trevor Williams too, and although it was a genuine mistake with your point deduction, you have to admit you got very lucky compared to teams like Altrincham etc. And you don't recall correctly. My AFC supporting relative was in no way supporting they got deducted 18 points. I repeat the question I asked earlier, which in no way is antagonistic - if AFC were in this position (or any other team you supported), what positively could be done to get you out of the mess?

I love how we're getting financial lessons from the club who got themselves millions of pounds in debt to a robbing club destroying git (Kholsa) and who today have just splashed out upwards of 15k on a striker...

If its 15k thats some figure but John Main is the real deal,Bradley played against him twice in the F.ACup 1st qualifying and replay, kept him quiet for 179 mins and then he stole our thunder,he really is a quality player shows A.F.C.intentions.

Not doubting his ability. The goalscoring record speaks for itself but it is an awful lot of money for the Ryman League.
