Let's hope the rain relents tomorrow. If the game's on, here's where I shall be beforehand: www.rackofale.co.uk/

Well worth the trip to see our boys battle the mud and somewhat hostile atmosphere to bring home 3 vital points. The first real action was Dundos superb flick from a cross which looped over the keeper to put us 1 up. Then it started to rain and the midfield was a mud heap but conditions were just about playable. Dover came at us and although they had a lot of the ball but failed to give the impeccable Jason Brown anything serious to deal with. Cloughie superb again tonight, he just wins every ball in the air and Dover were battering a door that would not give, The home fans did take exception to what they saw as U's players going down a bit too easy and lets say in no rush to get the ball back into play, turn damn right hostile. The second half saw us pressing for the 2nd with Dundo at the centre of most things, but it was Scans who came closest when he cut inside the box and fired a low drive that the keeper turned around the post.
Then came the sending off which I didn't see clearly so will leave others to explain but the ref was happy it was a 2nd caution and a early bath. Dover tried to push forward for the remaining 25mins Dos made 3 subs and in truth we were solid and didn't give them a sniff at goal all night.
Fantastic away performance, worst home supporters of the season, great Dundo goal but MOTM for me goes to Cloughie for his outstanding performance.

Terrific result and a disciplined performance against a side which had scored at least twice in each of their last ten games. (Perhaps Dover's programme editor shouldn't have mentioned that! ) When Dundo lobbed us ahead in the third minute we might have expected a goalfest, but after that there were few shots on target by either side. We played a defensive 4-5-1 formation, with Jamie T ploughing a rather lonely furrow up top. Although Dover had plenty of the ball, even after Goulding's red card, they didn't have a lot of midfield space in which to build attacks. On the rare occasions when our back line was breached, Jason Brown proved a capable last man. So that's our first league 'double' of the season, and, although we stay 4th, we're now putting pressure on Ebbsfleet and Eastleigh in the places above us. In the meantime, we can bask in an impressive Conference South record against Dover of W3D3L0. That 6-0 drubbing in the Ryman League seems quite a long time ago!

A massive 3 points for us tonight. Got an early goal and kept a clean sheet. Seems like Dover supporters were getting on the "time wasting" bus. I had to admit there were times where that was evident from us (esp evident with Scan's yellow card) but nowhere near as blatant as what Weston have been guilty of in the past, and no different to any other side in the league going to a ground against a side who are good and you get a early goal against. Not that we did the proverbial "park the bus" at any time either.
Yet again as has been evident from all games in 2014, this game was won/saved by the defence. Again Clough was masterful, and changing Shitta for Weston was the right thing at the right time to keep things water tight.
At the end of the season we will look back on this result as a huge 3 points - our first double of the season too. Dover are a good side and will be one of the 4 teams I think will be in the play offs. So this sort of result holds so much weight. I wouldn't be surprised if we return to Crabble in late April in very different circumstances.
As for the ref - very card happy - I lost count of how many he showed. The red card...well I can't recall the first offence but the 2nd certainly was a yellow.
Heard there was a little nonsense at the end of the game as the players were going into the tunnel with some Dover fans. Not sure what happened but I hope it was a minority of disgruntled fans voicing their frustration and nothing else.
With Ebbsfleet not due to play on Saturday (they were due to be home to Gosport), a draw will see us go up to 3rd in the table on goal difference, whilst the 4 point gap below us means we will be at least 4th. A win and Eastleigh not winning at Farnborough will take us up to 2nd (albeit having played a lot more games - I got that right this time).
Well done to Sutton for grinding out a real top result. Most of the time it wasn't pretty to watch at all, but 1-0 wins for the rest of the season will do us!!

Worth pointing out that Goulding's sliding challenge on Jason Brown (prior to his first yellow card) left the 'keeper with a bloodied nose from the toe end of Goulding's boot - I was stood at that end for the first half, thought I saw it and have had it confirmed; I think that contributed to his first yellow when just a few minutes later he went straight through the back of Wynter.
The second yellow looked to be quite a reckless, dangerous lunge / sliding tackle that I think actually connected with his own player, also looked an obvious yellow from my view.

Moaners on a club's forum aren't necessarily representative of the fanbase! The Dover fans I know are (mostly) a decent and fair-minded bunch. I enjoyed a few beers with some of them before last night's match.

I think there were 8 yellows shown last night - 5 to Dover (inc 2 at Goulding) and 3 to Sutton

I enjoyed a few beers with some of them before last night's match. I just had a quick look at their forum. Unlike some other groups of fans, most of them are venting their frustration at a poor Dover performance. Some others will say it was everyone else's fault apart from theirs (I'm starting to sound like Richard Hill/Marcus Gayle now). They'll be fine again when they get their next win, although they'll have to play better than that to get 3 points from Weston on Saturday.
