Hi there, decided to pop over to your forum on behalf of Wealdstone. Just curious as to why the free entry was so successful with a 2,000 plus crowd. We're doing well with crowds at the moment, but are always looking to improve, so any key to this success, and were people buying lots of food and drink etc? Thanks

20,000 plus leaflets distributed around the town and at railway stations helped promote the initiative and the appearance of Tim Vine as mascot may have helped too.
It was a fantastic effort by a number of volunteers (I was not one of them). No idea what the food outlets and bar takings were like but a bucket collection for donations (to compensate for the free entry) made over £2k.

Sadly for Basingstoke their community day was poorly attended with less then 600 tuning up on Saturday. Gosport did better with over 1000.

Bath got 1374 a week after ours and they have also reduced admission prices for the rest of the season. I really don't know where these clubs get their ideas from

I'm sure nobody could organise something like that in a week. So much work! :-)
I think SUFC is an amazing club with amazing fans and if other clubs are inspired by our ideas that turn out to work well, I'll be really proud. But I'll also be glad because I want non-league football in general to do well. Long may it continue.

Much as we'd like to, I'm not sure we can take credit for thinking of Free Admission, or Pay What You Want.
