2nd place is now ours for the losing but we haven't got altogether easy games to play.

I see Welling had a crowd of 480 last night. That must be a worry for any of the clubs seeking promotion. It is possible fans are put off by the cost? Also Welling are not child friendly with their pricing and £15 for adults seems rather steep!
Welling Admission Prices 2013/14 Prices for Conference Premier League games Adults - £15.00 Concessions (Over 60′s/under 16′s) – £9.00 Students On production of student card – £10.00 Under 12′s (when accompanied by an Adult) – FREE Seating: £1.00 extra

have we been guaranteed play-offs yet? If I'm correct both Dover and Concord can end the season with more than 71 points (Dover 74 and Concord 76), whilst Staines can end with 71 points if they win all their games. With both Concord and Dover playing Thursday, if they fail to win either of their games and we beat Ebbsfleet, we will have mathematically secured our play off spot by 5pm on Saturday. The way it stands at the moment, we can't finish any lower than 7th.

We will finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th. If we see off Ebbsfleet on Saturday it should be 2nd or 3rd.
I know Dos wants to finish 2nd to maximise home advantage in the play-offs. We will now have to battle Bromley for runners-up spot. They're a point behind us, but their final four games (Weston and Stortford at home, Tonbridge and Gosport away)look easier than ours. I wouldn't be surprised if they pick up 10 or 12 points from that lot, so we may have to win all four of ours to clinch 2nd.

There are still too many combinations Eastleigh I think could even secure the title on Saturday if we and Bromley both lose? We have 4 games to go, all winable and we have to be looking at grabing that 2nd place, with one eye on getting players fit for the playoffs which are still not secured.

Went to Hayes Lane last night. Eastleigh was solid but nothing spectatcular except for the first goal. Superb control and finish from Ben Wright, although if the 'keeper had been on his line he may have saved the shot.
Swaine headed the equaliser right on time. Met the ball well but was totally unmarked.
The winner was a Wright penalty after a silly foul by the home right back. Ref was good too and we've seen him loads of times under Dos's reign - one of the better ones, generally.
Bromley didn't have the strength to compete with Eastleigh but Dubois and Goldberg were lively, the latter hitting the bar in the first minute and the former forcing a great save from the 'keeper later in the half.

I think Saturday is an important game for us - Ebbsfleet's win at Staines was a real statement of intent and I think its almost certain we will have to beat them in the play offs one way or another to go up. If we can get the better of them it will be a psychological advantage, especially when we play them again at GGL. Bromley are not good enough to go up now in my eyes, for whatever reason they have fallen apart and losing to their two closest rivals at home is proof - they have effectively done an 'Arsenal'. On to the potential play off games - who would everyone prefer to face? Of all possibilities I would take Brommers as we have a hold over them after beating them home and away. Facing a momentum team that finishes 4th or 5th is always dangerous, but we should have the quality to beat any of the chasing sides over two legs. The real danger is finishing 3rd behind Brommers and playing Ebbsfleet in 3rd v 4th - home and away vs them would be a coin toss.

I'm not so sure that finishing 3rd would necessarily be worse than finishing second. The team that finishes second is likely to have to play Havant over two legs - and they looked a very good side when we played them a week or so ago. If we finish third, we're more likely to have to play Ebbsfleet over two legs - and may just (I think) have to play Havant in a one-off game at home (if they beat Bromley). Of course, this presumes that we can beat Ebbsfleet over two legs (and on Saturday) - and I'm sure that they would also be very difficult games.

Ebbsfleet didn't beat Staines, it was a 1-1 draw,
Whoever we play, if we get a playoff place, will be tough - that is why those teams are in the playoffs,

True. Don't write Bromley off. They are a very dangerous side reflected by their status as top scorers. They were also from what I understand the better side against Eastleigh the other night but just couldn't take their chances. Yes they have lost a couple of tough recent games but they have pushed us all the way in both fixtures whilst not being that close to full strength.
Havant we have scored 8 past in the league fixtures but again we saw enough from them to suggest they are a very good side and will be tough to beat. You would hope the schedule may lead to them going into the play offs tired if they get there but they seem to have a fairly large squad. And of course they have work to do to get there as anyone down to Concord could yet come through.
Will be interested to get my first look at Ebbsfleet Saturday and see how they compare.
All that said I'm sure that the other sides that are in the play offs will expect a tough assignment if they were to meet us. I just hope to see us win a tie!
