Ok so someone had to create a thread ahead of tomorrow's first leg. Huge game for the club and one which we need to avoid defeat in my opinion before the return leg at GGL on Saturday. Am looking forward to the game and hope we buck the trend of our play-off record in recent years (Played 4 Won 0 Drawn 1 Lost 3).
Interesting one for Dos in terms of who to go with tomorrow what with key players returning from injury.

Thanks localboy and stewart. As if I wasn't nervous enough already, you post this about our play off record !!!!!
I think this is going to be incredibly tight and if we get out of Dover with a draw or a single goal victory, I hope we can finish the job off on Saturday (fingers well and truly crossed)

Talking about our play-off record is all well and good, but how many of our current team played against Welling in 2012, let alone against Kingstonian in 2010 or Staines in 2009?
History counts for not much in situations like this, form and performance does. We've got the form, and we're more than capable of the performance. In 2009 we were in the same situation as Dover are, just scraping into the play-offs on the last day via a penalty spot winner. Staines then dismantled us 3-0 in the semi-final. Two years ago we went into the play-offs on a poor run of form throughout the latter part of the season, and it was partly thanks to others failings that we actually made the play-offs. And 2010 was just a horrible fluke.
Like MarkN above I think if we can get a draw or a single goal victory I think we can see the tie out at the Lane. I'm certainly more confident than I was 2 years ago. We CAN do this.

Well I have decided nerves are for wimps, we need 7pts from 3 games against sides we can beat and we simply need to carry our form forward. We should be confident in Dos and our superior payers ability to do the business. We will win the payoffs unless we botte it and Dos won't let tgat happen. We are going up and that is that!

I'm starting to get scared, more of Saturday than tomorrow though. I'm fairly relaxed about tomorrow because whatever can be achieved by one team in the first game can potentially be achieved by the other team in the second. Is what I keep trying to tell myself!

Thanks localboy and stewart. As if I wasn't nervous enough already, you post this about our play off record !!!!! I wasn’t being negative it was a question I don’t think our record in the play offs will have a bearing on the result, just like our excellent record against Dover and all the top sides in this league. More importantly take PDs advice wear your club colours and cheer the team onto the pitch at 7.40 tomorrow night.

I know it wasn't negative Stewart. I was trying to be light hearted but it doesn't always come across in print I guess.
By the way, my replica shirt is pressed and ready and my vocal chords are warming up.

Just need to play our game tomorrow - the likes of Downer, Scannell and Taylor were all rested at the weekend and should be fresh to come back in - think Dover have one of their key players missing in Cogan who scored the pen to put them in the play-offs.
I'm confident.

I'm certainly more confident than I was 2 years ago. We CAN do this. Agree!!! Staines - well we were beaten by a better side Welling - Yup we didn't have a great run of form (we won 3 of our last 11 games), and to be honest, it was just one half in the first leg that made us lose the game, when we were continually caught out on the right hand side. The 2nd leg was possibly the best Sutton performance I have witnessed which led to a 0-0 draw! K's - total fluke over one game. If that had been 2 legs I think it would have been a different story. I'm very nervous, but with one exception, this side has proven to be consistent and also have the ability to come back from being down. If you look at the side we had in the play offs 2 years ago, and the side we have now, then to me it's ours to lose. Football has never been an exact science, but this has been our best opportunity for a long time. Plus not only do we have very talented footballers, we have a side that gels well and is full of strong positive character.

First, we should be confident going into the play-offs. Our record over the season, and in particular since the turn of the year, speaks for itself. We won five of our six league games against the other play-off contenders. And we've only lost once since 28 December.
Second, I agree that our disappointing record in play-offs isn't particularly relevant. In two of our three play-off seasons we lost to a better team that had finished above us. The K's result was the only one that didn't go with form.
Third, we can still expect the play-off games to be tight affairs. Tomorrow's looks the most testing of the three we'll potentially play as we're away under the lights and there will be vociferous home support. That should make for a cracking atmosphere. The tactics will be intriguing - Kinnear will want to go for a first leg win on home turf, but Dover's record under him is actually better away from home. Unless one team can rack up a big advantage tomorrow night - which is pretty unlikely - it will be the second leg match at GGL that will decide who goes through to the final.

Whilst we can go into these confident I don't feel we should be under any real pressure to win them and get promoted. Nothing to lose and everything to gain should be the attitude. Anything can happen but hopefully we will prove to be the best team. We know Dover will test us, they give little away defensively and our defence will need to be strong and concentrate as they love to smash the ball forwards. They are also making use of their best player at last so he will need to be handled well. Great games to be involved with as players, fans and management so let's enjoy them as much as we can and give it everything we have.
