I see the suburban league have bottled it!!!! The ressie should have been awarded the game if Burgess hill put in ineligible players! They knew the rules in the 1st game so why put in 1st team players in the 2nd leg? Cheats!!! The last time this happened was Met police v AFC Wimbledon. AFC put in ineligible players and had to forfeit the game, so why hasn't burgess hill! A replay is a cop out!!!

And where in the rules does it state that you should be giving the game. I think you will find it was down to the league to make a decision. It is also a semi final, do you really what to get into a final that way!!!! Also didn't Burgess Hill Town play a 1st XI game the same night.

On a point of honesty, when our reserve side lost late on 2-1 to Tooting in the semi-final of the Surrey Cup last year they also fielded an ineligible player and Phil Dunne being the man he is did not even lodge an appeal, fair play to the man as he said do you really what to get to a final that way when on the night we were beaten by the better side.Think about it.

Bugress Hill made an honest "mistake" - as they genuinely couldn't fill an XI. As Tony K says, they did have a first team game that evening, so it's not like they put in a few 'ringers' to strengthen the team. Sutton didn't appeal. The paperwork obviously highlighted the error. And Sutton had no influence on the decision made.
But as stated and from chatting with a few people - you'd rather get to the final by winning, than being given the win. Or even a second chance to win.
