Margate Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of striker Jamie Taylor from Vanarama Conference South Side Sutton United. The 31 year old who shot to fame after bagging 105 goals in 135 games for Horsham before later going on to enjoy spells at Grays Athletic, Dagenham & Redbridge and AFC Wimbledon. The prolific striker who joined Sutton United last season from Conference Premier Side Lincoln City where he had been their top scorer joins the Blues on a deal that runs to the end of the 2015-16 season. Taylor will go into the squad for tomorrows clash with Canvey Island at Hartsdown Park. Margate boss Terry Brown is delighted to be able to add Taylor to his squad. “Stuart and I worked with Jamie at Aldershot and he showed a lot of potential and he has gone on to prove that with a great track record at Non-League level”. “Jamie will bring different strengths to what we already have. He is a sharp striker that will take chances, I would expect him to get us at least 20 goals this season”. www.margate-fc.co.uk/news/gate-add-taylor-to-strike-force-1294428.html

I did perhaps wonder if something was going on since he wasn't even on the bench last weekend for the game against Staines. A good signing for Margate, am sad to see him go and I wish him all the best for them. Still a great predatory striker on his day for Sutton! I particularly remember his great finish against Ebbsfleet at home last season from an acute angle.
Thanks Jamie.

Surprised... not really. Bang for ya buck, and well if he ain't scoriing goals, and is on a decent weekly wage, what you going to do?! Simple , not turn down a decent offer for the lad...
Business is business, if you get offered a decent amount at this level you've got to be mad not to take it.
You could see in recent weeks, something hasn't been going quite right for him...
Considering Jess was named as our back up striker for this season, he has i think scored a decent load of goals already, and probably gets paid a smaller weekly wage, food for thought.
I'm sure there might be another striker lined up...as a replacement...possibly.

Always thought he could go on a devastating goal scoring run but it hasn't happened. Shame. When I first saw him I thought he would be the best striker we've had for a long time. This will free up a bunch of budget - whether that has been spent already on the incoming signings, we just needed to cut back, or there is a signing to come I guess we'll see. Do we need to rename 'Strikers are key'?!

Hope we got a fee for him. The preview for tomorrow's game states that Margate have paid us an undisclosed fee for Jamie.

Some of the goals Jamie scored last season were way beyond CS level. He's a class act, and if he's given the right service at Margate. Although his start to the season hasn't been the most prolific, I'm not sure if he got a full 90mins this season either, and Marv is less prolific by games played this season. But if Dos got a good offer and Jamie isn't the striker that's fitting the way he wants to play then he probably has made a good call. We certainly were lucky enough last season to see moments of real class, and I wish him the best at the alumnus that is Margate who with addition will walk the Ryman this year.

Not surprised one bit he's gone, he's not going to sit on the bench or be a part time player, great 1st touch, quality on the ball, big signing for us....... But for some reason just didn't score the goals ..... Super signing for margate and will proberly bang the goals in for them,,,,,,good luck for the future ⚽️⚽️

Totally agree that Taylor is a class act, it is just a shame that both he and Slabber the strikers to fire us to promotion have both gone after just one season.

Shame about Jamie but I was not convinced that he was enjoying this season. He is a scorer who does so on instinct and that was not happening for him this time around. We will miss his movement though. He was exceptional at that.
as for the slabber taylor partnership it never really happened because of respective injuries.
good luck to jamie in what will be a two horse race for the ryman title.
as for tomorrow I see they played a county cup game to get mcmahon available. That has not been permitted in the past.
