I don't think Dos has made that many mistakes to be honest this season. His first choice 11 would have included: John, Ruddick, Spetch at the back, Binns, Marv and Taylor as forwards, thats 6 players for one reason or another were denied to Dos. Since then there have been a whole host of problems that many are not aware of, despite this we are on 26pts still within budget, and the clubs wider plans are still on course.
In addition our ground has had a refurb thanks to the boss, and we remain a work in progress.
I just wonder what position we would be in now under a different (paid) manager right now??
The only arses that need kicking around here are those of the doubters!

There's some good points raised by os. I'm wondering as maybe others are what the whole host of problems were? Not trying to dwell on the negative by any means but if these issues were more apparent to the wider audience then it may make fans more aware of what goes on and also we may be able to offer support in some way.

Mark, I'm not taking a lecture from you on how you should comment on the performances of anyone paid to do a job after 20 years of listening to you lay into referees week after week.
I had my opinion on that shambles and I chose to voice it and I'll stand by it.
You have had yours on the level of officiating over the years and have voiced it just as aggresively and just as loudly in the heat of the moment.
You and I have often been right and we have often been wrong. There's certainly no moral high ground either us can take on that.
I will explain the insult comment...
We have a nearly entirely volunteer run reserve, youth and junior team set up, hours of effort, time and commitment go into that team.
Nearly every player who pulls on a shirt for Sutton Reserves or Sutton Youth or any of our junior sides wants to one day play for the first team.
Before both of our Surrey Senior Cup games this season, the lads closest to a shot in the first team were told they would make up the bulk of the squad and both times they have then been ignored for for the first team with little warning.
I think that is insulting.
Particularly when the result of playing the first team is a miserable defeat to ten men from two leagues below, despite the first team not having a game for over a week.
What else where they planning for? A game of Tiddlywinks?
Also, to turn up to a game with a substitutes bench consisting of a reserve 'keeper, and the two reserve players who have already played senior games (Jerson and Kevant), one of whom took a fitness test before the game and didn't feature, is, in my mind, maybe not yours, an insult to the fringe players who were hoping for an opportunity to impress and to the supporters who were expecting to at least see us name a full squad.
If you play in the reserve set up and see two empty spots on the bench, with no defensive cover despite Louis John playing his first game in months, then, I think you have the right to be insulted at the dismissive attitude taken to your presence in the club whilst the basically professional first team embarrass themselves losing a game to ten men.
If you think that's a load of bollocks then fair enough but that is why I used the word insulting in my posts and in my post match comments.

Again, thanks for the clarification. If you had done that initially the question would not have been needed to be asked.
as for the referees, they don't represent Sutton our players do and I'd rather take my frustration out in the former's direction than that of the latter.
lecturing? No. Asking a question, yes.

OS may have been referring to some difficulties experienced by various players, which Dos told us about at the last meet the manager session. The reason why they're not wider knowledge is because some of them were quite personal and Dos asked for them not to be taken outside that room. I don't think it really matters exactly what they were, though. The point was that a lot of players had various (legitimate) problems that may have affected their game. Sheer bad luck for the squad really. Is that perhaps what you're referring to? I don't know if you were at that session so apologies if you were.

......a win today, and all will be forgotten!!!! If DOS is back from holiday, I hope he had a relaxing break, which he deserved.

Oh and Sallycat, you'll be pleased to know that, on reflection, I concede that my definition of 'success' was a little narrow. Your reasoning that we've tended to achieve Dos's pre-season targets has swayed me. I was viewing it as achieving something tangible (i.e. a trophy), but that was being a bit blinkered.
It's been emotional.

Ha ha I'm not on this forum to win arguments or score points. I just thought you were being harsh on everyone who had worked so hard to achieve those things. Let's get stuck in and get behind the team today

One good result (alright a fantastic result) doesn't settle everything but it's a start towards a positive finish to the season.

First let me say i do not like medibots comments i inadvertently pressed wrong button. It is a shame that vitriolic comments such as his have done untold damage as PD interview after Ebbsfleet game. It is sad that people like him cant keep their mouths shut instead of insulting one of Suttons best managers.

If somebody could point out where any of my comments on this forum have been vitriolic towards Paul Doswell, then I would be delighted to know which comments they were. It certainly wasn't my intention and I don't think I said anything of that nature.
I may have made some criticisms but I think I covered most aspects of the mistakes of this season and pointed out the huge amount of positives you can take from failure or poor form and how Paul is still the man for the job and will be a better manager for failing in his ambitions this year.
I'm not sure how that could have been made clearer.
If my posts were considered insulting, then I may as well never hold an opinion on here ever again because somehow, somewhere, I will be upsetting somebody.
And, as an irrelevant aside, if anyone else would like to stake a claim to having started more "there's only one Paul Doswell" chants than me over the last six years, then I'd be extremely interested to know who you are.
The only thing I have to apologise for is my over the top reaction after Tuesday's defeat, which was more a venting of months of bottled up frustration at the constant low tempo, lacklustre, poor quality and error strewn football we've had to watch from arguably the most experienced and well looked after team we've ever assembled.
The blind loyalty to those in the choccy and amber only goes so far.
Naturally, after chucking out the full on hair-dryer treatment, Saturday's performance against Ebbsfleet showed everything that has been missing for months on end in our approach, tempo, desire, those little scraps of luck etc
Whilst that no doubt had nothing to do with my questioning of the squads ability in an ineloquent manner on Tuesday and everything to do with Dos and the players, let's hope we can keep that level up and actually win two games in a row and kick on.
I have already apologised to Bruce Elliot for Tuesday and it is something I will happily apologise to the players for if it bothered them enough to want an apology.
Nobody deserves to be called a waster c**t at work, even if their work is a job that people spend most of, if not all of their free time, holiday and spare cash watching
Even if the vast majority of that time this season was spent watching them make a complete tit of doing their job.
I shouldn't have said it in the way I did but I did, it's happened, I can't change that.
As for anything I've posted on the forum. I can't see anything that at the time of posting could be considered offensive.
Certainly, when compared to some of the things said about Paul Doswell daring to take a holiday and missing one whole game.
Especially when, as I recall, he has done it every year. I believe they call it a work/life balance.
As it is, I'll reserve my opinions, good or bad for private discussions and at games, I'll try and regulate the extremes of my language when it doesn't go well as this seems to be of the greatest concern to most people.
If anyone has any genuine issues with me then most of the faces at the club will be able to point me out. I'm happy to talk, happy to admit to being a tw*t on Tuesday.
I'm just not happy to concede my right to have an opinion on here.
Anyway, I'll see you all at Havant and let's try and be loud, it's a cracking ground for getting some noise going.

Massive kudos for that post. Takes a decent person to stand up and say that sort of thing.
