As much as we would have loved a win, it's a point away from home and also a clean sheet away from home - so plenty of positives to be taken I would have thought.

Battled hard apparently. Jason Henry sent off for an 'off the ball' attempted headbutt. Attempted - he probably couldn't reach...

Too right Ed. Bit rash from JH but the fact their no6 went down clutching his face when he was one of the tallest players on the pitch states how much he has cheated. It was a shocking decision by the ref who fell hook line and sinker to the amdrams. The ref himself had an appaling second half, with an obvious flavour towards the home side, and I think, ruined what actually was a good game between two pretty well matched sides.
Defensively I'd say that was one of our best performances of the season, helped slightly that Welling didn't offer much upfront.
There was a pretty decent battling performance by us, on a surface which was very slippery. We have lost 1 game in 6 now, and had 3 clean sheets in 4 games (and I know some of the opposition were weaker) but its still better than October/November.....

The statistics certainly are encouraging, even if we have - as Andy rightly said - played some weaker sides. However, in previous seasons when we've been performing better in the league we've lost to exactly the same kind of weaker sides in the cups. Clean sheets are clean sheets, and results are results - they're competitive matches against teams who are bang up for it when playing against opposition from higher divisions. We now have another promising result (and performance) in the league so from where I'm standing (about 300 miles away, admittedly) everything is looking very, very positive. Ernie is not going to turn us from a bad team into a good team overnight, but it does look like he is starting to do the business.

MotM = Paul Honey by far today was absolutly outstanding. As for the attempted headbutt how on earth can someone tops 5'5 headbutt someone 6'4 is beyond me. Craig Dundas is a great accquisition to the team, everytime he goes forward theres always a good opportunity. I am not going to get started on the ref but every game the ref gets worse and worse. Two very evenly matched teams i thought Sutton were the better side in the first half and it was pretty even in the second but we just need McBean to start shooting from places instead of trying to get round every single player before. Very frustrating but 1 point is better than 0.

Very good at the back today and very few mistakes given the slippery surface, PW another excellent game. First half we were on top and unlucky not to go in 1 up at the break second half we just lacked that final ball time and time again it was frustrating to watch. Some Fans closer to the JH incident were saying he throw a punch but I didn't see so can't say but if he did then he cannot have any complaints for being sent off, trouble we lose him for 3 games which is a real shame because he is becoming a real handful for oppos. Thought the ref and lineman were very inconsistent, giving fouls and bookings and ignoring very similar incidents.
All in all this ship of ours is a turning, but that icebergs coming its hard to look

As entertaining as a 0-0 could hope to be. I thought we were the dominant team in the 1st half, creating several decent chances. 2nd half was alot more even, although i thought we created the better chances. As for the red card, i admit i didn't quite catch the incident, as i was watching another incident happening at the time. If Henry threw a punch then he deserved to go, but the Welling number 6 needs to look at himself for the reaction, clutching his face. I mean Henry would of had to perform an Olympic standard jump to catch him on the face! Thought the Referee lost the game totally, some of the fouls that Welling players were getting away with were shocking. Agree with the posters above who said Ug was man of the match, he was all over the midfield and crossed well. Thought Henry was having a good game until the red card, linking well with Dundas and Henry. I also thought Scooby was strong today back in defense in his 1st BSS game for a while.
I think overall, i am annoyed it was only 1 point, but at the same time 1 point is better than 0, and under the previous management perhaps we would of lost. It was a decent battling performance but it could of been so much more.

I'd echo some of the sentiments on here about today's performance.
After surviving an early scare on seven minutes when their forward should have at least hit the target instead of pulling his shot wide, we strode out the better side in the first half. Greene and Honey were working well in the middle, the defence looked as strong as it ever has this season and the front line posed a threat. Unfortunately, we couldn't maintain that control in the second half and ended up defending a lot more than attacking up the slope.
The main talking point will be the sending off. Given the fact that Jason walked off the pitch almost before the referee had time to brandish the red card, he'd obviously caught the No.6. I didn't actually see the moment of impact, but we could all see the big defender fall to the grass as if shot and roll around a few times clutching his face. Perhaps he thought it was going to fall off? Maybe he'd just been watching too much European football? Quite why a grown man of well over six feet should feel the need to act the fool is anyone's guess, especially after being 'assaulted' by a player who stands knee-high to a grasshopper. I prefer to think Jason probably got fed up of being elbowed across the face twice by the same player. Both times well off the ball and both times missed by the officials. Still, a point is a point. Onwards and upwards.

I agree that we were the better side in the first half, playing down the slope. Welling came back strongly as the second half wore on, but their shooting was pretty woeful.
The game became a little fractious late on, and there was a flurry of cards. I too didn't see the Jason Henry incident, but the ref had no hesitation in showing him a red.
The clean sheet was welcome, but we need wins not draws. This was one of our better performances in the league this season, but Welling are one of the less formidable sides we've met and we still had to work hard for a point. We need to raise our game a bit more if we're going to stay up.

Both NLP reports (one from Welling- possibly both) stated that it was a headbutt that JH was dismissed for. As said earlier for Mr Moore (player of the month - you're having a laugh) to go down clutching his face was laughable. Perhaps JH had run off the pitch to borrow some step ladders or perhaps Moore had lowered his head towards JH for contact to be made. The ref was appalling in the second half. We picked up two bookings in the same incident after NG appeared to have won the ball and after both ref & assistant had ignored the tackle from behind by a Welling player just a second earlier.
That's the third U's player to go off at Parkview, following Lenny Dennis & Danny Brooker both in contraversial matches where poor refereeing was a major factor - sound familiar?
Good battling display with PH excellent throughout. Well done too to Welling for producing a playable pitch after the recent downpours. Comment of the match from one of their fans as their no 15 sliced an attempt at goal into the advertising hoardings. "What a sh*t shot!" he yelled hence the 0-0.

Just watched the video several times, it looks to me as if the No6 followed through with his head on JH, well after the ball had gone? The incident is 3mins 49secs in, if you pause it you can clearly see No6's head on JH's.

I recall that Barry Laker was sent off for us at Welling during the 1999/2000 Conference season.

Shame the video completely misses the complete lack of any contact in the area the Welling player went down holding (his head).
Rivaldo would've been proud.
