.....so the month of August has finally arrived, with many SUFC fans looking forward to the new season with high expectations. Today our final friendly against rivals Bromley FC, no doubt licking their wounds after being turned over by a very strong Palace side in mid week.

.....H/T 0 - 1 Now 0 - 2 to Bromley. Reading the Bromley report it seems Sutton have had several chances score but not taken. Sound familiar!!

All worryingly familiar. Don't much look like scoring.

This game was worringly reminiscent of many of our home matches last season: lots of early pressure but nothing to show for it, then the opposition score from their first presentable opportunity and the game drifts away from us. There was some good approach play from Ross Stearn and Glen Southam and, after substitutions, Tom Bolarinwa and young Emil Samala. But we lacked an end product, witn shots either straight at the keeper or off-target. We've scored nine goals in pre-season, but only one of those was against a team playing higher than Step 4 of the non-League pyramid. On paper we have a potent forward line, but the players need to show their worth now that the serious business is about to start. There is still room for optimism: pre-season results are rarely a reliable guide to how the season itself unfolds. EDIT: I see that Jamie White scored twice for Gosport today, as they beat Weymouth 3-1.

I hope I'm wrong, but I get a distinct sense that Sutton's long-running striker jinx could well be claiming two more victims this season.

Too many years of PSF's have taught me they mean nowt, apart from fitness they cannot be used as any sought of reference on the season to follow. The season we got relegated from the CS we beat a very strong Brentford 3-1 and we looked like world beaters. I don't think we won a league match at home until the following January. Season before last we lost 6/7 PSF's conceding 19 goals and making Farnborough look like a title challenging side, we came second! I am glad its all over and we can see how good /bad we really are next week

Should have been out of sight before Bromley scored.Just got to take our chances. Completely agreed but I'd say it's just as frustrating that all the goals we've conceded at home have come from pretty much every chance (and sometimes they are only half chances) they've created
