I thought fair enough, but I probably wouldn't have said it out loud!

Ha what's their chairman been smoking over the last few days I wonder? They're not even the biggest team in Kent let alone the league.

In reality an ex football league team so you can see partly where he's coming from but where was the support when they were nomadic ? Perhaps we can do to them what Woking did to us when we first came up.

Living in Kent, the one thing that comes across clearly is that Gillingham are the counties top and biggest club. The one thing that clubs in Kent have is the support of the local media and local councils, certainly Dartford and Maidstone have been big winners there.
We don't get the adverts on BBC Radio, or interviews and we get no support what so ever from our local council, who have now given something like £150k to Chelsea and Palace (Chelsea ran away with the money). I stand to be corrected but I don't think we have had a single penny from LBS?
The problem Maidstone have is that they need growth to sustain, and that means they cannot afford to dwell or they will lose fans and the gates will dwindle.

Certainly agree re LBS. Seen some Palace stuff on their twitter feed pre season. Can't recall one about Sutton, their own Borough's premier team. Unreal.

TBF on crowd numbers alone they are the biggest team in the league. And what's wrong with a newly promoted team showing ambition? And he makes a couple of good points in the article about the need to be competitive and fighting towards the top of the league

As a stones fan I can see where he's coming from but it's bloody embarrassing to see it stated so bluntly and so publicly. A quick visit to conference south nomads forum demonstrates how negative the reaction has been among fans of other clubs.

does seem to be a bit of a faux pas upon the initial reading, but i'm thinking it may add another element to what's promising to be a fantastic season. nothing wrong with a bit of brinkmanship,it all adds to the excitement. can't wait to join you fellows in one of your bars tomorrow to discuss. it's going to be a great day.

SUFC doesn't have the exclusive VIP bar that supporters of "top" "big" clubs such as yours presumably prefer to frequent So, bring your own prawn sandwiches
