On Christmas night supporters sing to hear the news the fixtures bring
Nobody's started a thread for tomorrow's game yet so I thought I'd throw in some festive flair to kick this one off, hoping for yet another confident performance and hopefully a great result. Since I've been an extra good boy this year I'll wish for an early goal from Fleetwood (maybe even two if I'm really lucky!)

A strong second half performance today. Some indifferent performances dotted around the Sutton lineup, but this was more than matched by Basingstoke. Vine looked a shadow of his former self up front for them...
Thought we got lucky in the first half when Basingstoke fired a warning shot against the post and put the rebound into the side netting. However, the ball was a good half a metre over the line for the next Sutton attack and a goal should have been given to Sutton.
Fortunately it didn't matter. Great strike from Dundo and an even better one from Tombo. Looking forward to seeing those on SUTV later on!
I see Jamie Slabber scored a late equaliser for the Tudors against Monday's opponents Wealdstone today. With all the current bottom 3 losing today, it's not as bad as it could have been for them, but they will want to put it right on Monday, as they currently sit perilously close to the dropzone.
Hopefully a strong U's backing and a professional performance will see the good run continue.
Up the U's!

Yay! My first Sutton win in 2015!
It was a bit of a struggle for well over an hour, but two super strikes clinched the three points. Tom's alone was worth 12.12% of the full season ticket price.

And aside from us and ebbsfleet, the 3 other play off sides failed to win meaning that we're up to second.
I thought today wasn't a great match and scrappy on both sides as is usual for boxing day. But those two goals would have graced any match of quality.
We've made up at least 5 points on top place and with this form it will only take a couple of results to go our way and we can challenge for top spot. We just need to believe. ...

Tough going today. Had that air of expecting to win from the lads.
Basingstoke had a compact 4-4-2 and sat in. It was on us to be patient and break them down. We got frustrated and it became a scrappy, niggly game.
I think the lads were a tad jaded to which is understandable. It happens i can't expect us to be full throttle all of the time.
Dos made some changes and we got the first and i looked at Basingstoke dugout and you could see that was that. The body language was pretty laidback all game from their management anyways.
I think Tom going up top changed the game. Fitch wasn't as sharp as normal and Craig was poor by his standards. Basingstoke looked frightened soon as the had Tom chasing balls in behind.
Overrall a great result and three points more to the total.

First 45 mins playing into a very stiff breeze, we struggled a tad while Basingstoke mustered just one real opportunity. wo bookings, one for skip for continuing on about whether we had scored or not and one for Dan W, his fifth and a one match ban.
Second half with the conditions in our favour we struggled to break down their organised defence with Gasson their stand out performer. Finally, the deadlock was broken. Skip cushioned a header down and Dundo thrashed home a low half volley. It was the touch of class the game needed.
@stoke had their best spell after that but hardly threatened and then came Tom's strike. I was right on that corner of the net and I was fear of getting the full force of the ball but fortunately, the net held firm! I can tell you it was an outstanding strike (I was celebrating before it went in - a goal from the minute the ball left his boot) and Aaron Howe had no chance.
Not the most fluent of performances but enough to claim a Boxing Day victory and a second place in the division. Thought Skip was MoM today; great at the back and unlucky not to score, being our main goal threat until Dundo and Tom did the business with two great goals.
Four bookings. Two avoidable, one harsh. Ref did not adversely influence the match but let their guy go through the back of Tom in the first half before showing the first yellow for dissent. Hate ref's who do that. Protect the players not your own self esteem.
Onto Wealdstone where we have a poor record. Another toughy but then they all are at this level.

The form table makes good reading.. Especially as we have games coming up against 5 of the 6 bottom sides form-wise. Unfortunately, we also have to play Dartford!

It has been explained to me that the booking cut off date at Sutton's level is/was the 30th November which is out of step with the rest of football.
what it means is that ten cards is now the next target an therefore Messrs Eastmond and Wishart are not due a suspension as I had stated previously.
Glad to put the record straight.

Another important win for us yesterday helping us to maintain momentum as we go into the new year. Since the defeat to Hayes at home in early November we've won 7 out of the last 8 (not including the Concord Trophy "defeat" which I'm guessing will be expunged). Be good to see the Bolarinwa goal again - I doubt we'll see a better goal this season as it really was some strike from him!
Great to see us up to second now having profited from other teams' loss of form.
