FT
Chelmsford 0-2 Sutton
Great win, coupled with a late equaliser for Concord against Maidstone but sadly at pretty much exactly the same time Ebbsfleet got the winner against Basingstoke

Another great result, keeps the run going nicely. Sounded very comfortable. Thought we'd be in for a really tough game following a change of management and a good win for them last week. Well done all.

It was very comfortable but only leading 1-0 for a long time in the game you wondered whether the Clarets would score against the run of play.
We dominated the game and restricted Chelmsford to (I think) just 4 shots in the game.
Bailey was outstanding and linked up very well with Eastmond.
Dundo was awesome in the second half but did miss a sitter,
I thought Stearn had a good game and saw a lot of the ball. He does need to practise his free kicks a bit more though!
Tom caused their defence huge problems all afternoon. All the other players played well too.
Shame Ebbsfleet got a late winner but I'm confident we will catch them.
I hope Macca and Kevin are ok and that Wish didn't pick up an injury right at the end.
Let's keep the winning run going next week.

U's first excursion on grass since 12th December. Pitch was soft but never cut up, so well done to Chelmsford for their maintenance skills.
Sutton started brightly, pinning City back into last third but when the goal came early it was a surprise. Fitch cut along the edge of the box and struck a low shot. The ball whizzed along the ground and beat both post and 'keeper with some comfort. 'Keeper beaten at his near post from distance? he home side will not have been happy.
U's continued to be the dominant side, with the defence secure, Bailey spraying around the passes with the assurance of someone who has played where he has. to do that he had to have willing colleagues and they did not disappoint. Next o him Craig Eastmond did what he does so well and the home side had few attacks of any note, Ross W making one smart but comfortable save.
Second half, City took the game to U's but rarely fashioned anything to alarm before Dundo, having looked to have been fouled, picked himself up, robbed his opponent, turned and sent Tom B away down the right. Tom shook of his opponent and crossed low for Fitch to toe home his second. Game over? Well yes, tbh.
Dundo put a header wide and will have probably been disappointed to have shanked a good opportunity wide of the post before Ross W had to make another decent save.
If not as fluent as we can be this was an ultimately comfortable victory. Bailey and Eastmond were superb, there were threats down both flanks while the defence and Ross W were as solid as ever. Fitch will be well happy with another clutch of golas.
Downside. Knee injury to Craig M and Kevin had to go off too. Hope they are ok. Upside, great to see Nicky Bailey back in a U's shirt, a thing you'd always hope for but never expect. No longer the box to box teenager but an assured prompter, controlling the flow of the match for long periods with Craig E next to him and willing recipients of the ball surrounding him.
A solid team performance.
Bognor next. They had a massive confidence booster defeating the league leaders and with ten men for forty minutes of the second half. Next week will be a tough match. Bognor seem to have a big match mentality this season and today's victory cements that theory. However, we have enough to know that a big performance will be needed and the players to deliver.

Not at our best today and if Chelmsford had scored whilst applying pressure in the second half the result could have been completely different.Nice to see Bailey back in a Sutton shirt although i expected to see Cooper to start with Eastmond. We now have many talented mid field players from whom we can pick.

I spoke to a few Chelmsford fans after the game and heard our performance described as "professional", which I take as a compliment. It wasn't the prettiest, but we defended solidly, largely controlled the midfield, and poached two goals through Dan Fitchett, now fourth in the divisional scorers' table.
Nicky Bailey started the game, and his ability to find the simple but accurate pass was soon paying dividends. Ross Stearn dropped to the bench, but was soon on the pitch as Craig McAllister limped off, Dundo then being pushed further forward before reverting to right midfield once the game looked safe. When Kevin Amankwaah was hurt in the second half we had a natural replacement in Dan Spence.
We've now won eleven of our past twelve matches, drawing the other. Strip out the cup games and it's six wins out of seven. Momentum may still carry us higher than third, but should we end up in the play-offs then Bailey's experience could be the crucial ingredient.
