Let's kick this off - clear but not warm tonight. I presume Southam won't be playing for them tonight - didn't I read somewhere that he is "Unable" to play against us this season? Actually is he still there?

I heard his missus say something like that on boxing day, but the reason she gave sounded a bit confusing!

Looks like I'm gonna miss the start of this one due to traffic. If we could wait till the 2nd half to score that would be great!

Fitchett brought down in the box. Penalty awarded. Yellow card for the offender - lucky boy.

Dan Wishart is sent off. Did he dive in the box?

Basingstoke pull one back as Worner is caught out of his box. 1-2 but not long for the 10 men to hold on now. And that's it. 4th consecutive defeat for B'stoke. SUFC carry on their unbeaten run. I look forward to Frakey's erudite report on this one!

Well I have no idea what the ref was thinking. He's invented a new law. Clean through on goal in the middle of the penalty box with just the keeper to beat and Fitch gets brought down from behind. He gives the pen and only a yellow to the no 5. We were all astonished. Even their keeper couldn't believe it. It made the game a little more difficult than it should have been as we dominated for 70 mins. Basingstoke were so poor at the back that had we been at our best then we could have run up a cricket score. A good win nonetheless. Well done boys.
Oh and the journey back was great! The diversion signs weren't clear at all so went on the A33 to Reading and then the M4 and then phantom roadworks on the M25!!

We can add the name of Gary Parsons to the list of dodgy refs we've seen this season! More importantly, the official's decisions didn't stop us returning to winning ways and completing our second double of 15/16.
We were pretty much in control in the first half, Ross Stearn giving us the lead with a shot that defelected in off keeper Dan Lincoln (who'd played against us twice for Hayes & Yeading this season). Early in the second half Fitch was brought down in the box - the offending defender very lucky to be shown only a yellow card - and stepped up himself to convert the penalty. We were grateful for the two goal cushion as Stoke staged a second-half fightback forcing Ross W into a string of saves. We thought we might have a second penalty when Wish went down in the box only for Mr Parsons to decide it was a dive and show him a second yellow (his second red of the season, meaning he'll miss two games). Sub Tommy Wright then came close to making it three before, in stoppage time, Worns came out for a ball he couldn't reach giving their sub Lloyd Macklin an open consolation goal.
We're now back up to 2nd - where we last were after our Boxing Day win over tonight's opponents.
