Not the best video as I just left the camera in a fixed position, I'll do a proper job at Knaphill. A good win for us in a scrappy game, as many will be at this stage of the season

Another solid away performance against a side desperate for points but just not having enough quality to seriously look like ever getting them last night.
Basingstoke started ok but for all their early pressure rarely tested Ross in goal. Sutton began to get on top and after Dan Fitchett had been thwarted by the 'keeper, some poor defending allowed Ross Stearn to strike a shot into the bottom corner.
he second half wasn't too old when Fitch got through again but this time was bundled over as he lined up his shot. He dispatched the penalty well (more of the ref's action later). With the game seemingly won, U's got a tad scrappy after that but Basingstoke were never a real threat until Dan Wishart's dismissal.
'Stoke's late goal was a mere consolation and the result pushed U's up to second. It was a good all round team performance. Good to see Tom B back in full harness and Nicky B come off the bench too.
Now to the ref. I was quiet in the first half and the ref rarely came to any notice. Kevin A may have been lucky to escape punishment when a flailing arm caught an opponent, although there was no malice as they fought for the ball.
However, his decision not to send Gasson off was arguably a bad a decision as the penalty that Truro were awarded earlier this season. The letter of the law says that was denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity and by crikey, you don't get much more obvious than Gasson's intervention. As for the Dan W incident, it really looked as if he was going to award another pen, changed his mind and showed the second yellow. So, the letter of law was ok on that one but not the DOGSO. How can that be? It was an appalling piece of inconsistency. But should we be really surprised with the level of officiating seen last night? It is par for the course at this level. They just ain't good enough but unfortunately, anyone who could do something about this appears to have no interest in doing so.

Not sure how jr managed to end up in Reading on the way home? I gave kbb a tour of west Surrey mind as having used the sat nav for a while decided to ignore it as it took us towards Chertsey. Would have been ok but opted for a right rather than a left which probably added 5-8 miles to the journey. Ho hum.

Haha Mark. Got to the M3 turn in Basingstoke and had no option to either go to Newbury or Reading. I don't think they'd set up all the diversion signs and it certainly wasn't clear. Got back to Wallytown by 11.15 so wasn't too bad!

There was a lot of bollards at the roundabout onto the M3 but I just went left and followed them around until headed up the hill to the M3 slip road. Was bloody confusing though.
