Just a reminder that First Captial Connect are playing all sorts of silly buggers this weekend with trains. Before 1pm they go to London Bridge and after 1pm they go to Blackfriars, and the stations they stop at are all funny!!!!
Id suggest getting the underground to Kings X/St Pancras. But those of you hoping to be a bit smart and get a train to Victoria to hook up with the Victoria line, be aware that it doesn't stop there until Monday! Best to change at Clapham Junc, hop on a train to Vauxhall and pick up the Victoria line there instead.
Or failing that get on the northern line and go straight to St Pancras. Hope thats as clear as mud!

You sure about that Andy? The National Rail website told me I was ok to go direct to Blackfriars and change there before 1pm

Both of you are kind of correct. Main line services from Brighton are diverted, and the local Sutton service via Mitcham Juction is terminating at Kentish Town, but the service via Wimbledon is going direct.
For example, the 1056 from Mitcham Jn, via Sutton 1106, W Sutton 11.09, St Helier 1114, via Wimbledon 1123, gets to St Albans at 1243 a long journey but with no changes.
You can go either way to somewhere like the station that used to be called Kings X Thameslink and change for a fast service to St Albans.
The Mitcham J train suggests
1104 1141 Sutton
1112 1142 Mitcham Jn
change Blackfriars at 1141, 1211 to catch the 1153, 1223 to St Albans arr 1225, 1255.
That should work each half hour!!
Check out return times on arrival!!!
hope this helps!!

TFL & National Rail cannot get their heads around the fact that the train doesn't terminate at Wimbledon, even when you telephone them.
I've had to go to both St Albans and St Pancras a few times in the last couple of months and my gamble of going to Wimbledon and staying on the train has worked - all the timetables and their telephone staff keep saying that you can't do it though!
12.09 from West Sutton WILL go to Blackfriars via Wimbledon, change at Blackfriars.
Stupid TFL advise to get off the 12.09 at Wimbledon and take the district line to Blackfriars! But if you change it to Wimbledon to St Albans it advises taking the train that it just told you to get off if you were coming from West Sutton. Nutters.

All to do with timetabling. In the old days before Thameslink, they used to advertise some trains to terminate and start at West Sutton God knows why. As for TFL, their ok for buses, tubes and trams, but national rail...........

Would they have a copy with pictures for Gareth ? Oi!!! Anyway BH (as you've got the timetable in front of you!), just supposing a group of Sutton fans wanted to get to St Albans some time between 11 and 11.30, with people boarding the train at West Sutton, Sutton, Carshalton and Mitcham Jct, what would be our their options?

I came home from Blackfriars tonight and had a look at the posters and I THINK that the arrangement with which Andy K started this thread is what's happening on Sunday - it's just that they appear to have omitted the two crucial little words 'on Sunday' from the text, although the adjacent maps on the posters suggest this is right. Tomorrow as far as I can work out, and this is certainly the impression I got when doing the travel for the programme, and from the National Rail website earlier, all trains from Sutton, whether via Wimbledon or Mitcham will go to London but most will terminate at Kentish Town, with just the odd one going through to Luton (one of which BH mentions in an earlier post), so you'll most likely have to change at Blackfriars, City Thameslink, Farringdon or the brand spanking new St Pancras to catch the Bedford train, which is normally faster anyway even when the Sutton-Luton line is working normally.
