My first game since Hayes & Yeading and our New Zealand supporters club was here for the first time in 4 years so we could have put on a better performance for her!
I thought we matched Bath for the first 20 mins but sloppy defending gave them the first and then a great free kick hit the post and went straight to their striker for a simple tap in. Straight from the kick off Scooby cocked up and gifted them a 3rd. We played better in the second half as Bath sat back intent in keeping their lead adn the first time they ventured into our box they got a penalty from a rash challenge. Phil nearly saved it.
The front 3 battled hard all afternoon but couldn't get through Bath's well marshalled defence.
BTW I thought the ref had an excellent game.

Very disappointed today two key things for me were just handing the game to a decent Bath side without them having to do bugger all for it. True I did not really expect anything out of todays game but the one really big worry is even if we forget their 4 goals we could of played until next Tuesday and still would not of scored ourselves. Whatever the opposition, whether you play well or not one thing is simple you don't score you can't win, thats what's worrying me tonight because without converting chances into goal we are not going to stay up. I think JH is great but he does not score or create goals, Harry deserved a starting place today and Ern needs to dig deep now and find an out and out Striker.

Realisticly I dont think anyone was expecting to get a great deal out of todays game. We lost to a better side, we cant change that, so lets move on and get prepared for our next game. We need to learn from games like this and we need commitment. I have to say that some players need to take a good look at their performance today. And those players should then look at the likes of Dundas, Bash, AJ and Jack who at the moment seem to be carrying the team. Turning up for matches and living on past reputations is not how it`s done. You are only as good as your last game. If we are to perform the "Great Escape" it will only happen if we are extreemly lucky or we work and play twice as hard as our opponents, we only have control over one of those criteria so we need to focus our energy on that and anyone who is not willing should be dropped in favour of a player that is. It`s not easy being a manager ( I know from experience ) so EH needs our support but more than that he needs players to perform. When you`re down at the bottom of the table it`s very hard to stay motivated and some might well have their own escape act agenda (to another club) but at the end of the day there is no sweeter feeling than proving someone wrong and forcing them to admit it. So lets hope that this was just a hiccup on our road to survival. Had we lost to a team that were in the bottom 8 that would have been a disaster because those games are effectivly 6 pointers. Judging by the length of time that EH had them in the changing room after the game I would guess that he was saying the same.

This was a reality check after the euphoria at St Albans, and a harsh reminder that there's still a lot of work to do if we're going to be playing at the same level next season.
It wasn't a pretty match, littered with free kicks. Bath are a functional side, physical without being dirty, who play an effective percentage game. There weren't many chances, but they had more than we did and took most of theirs while we took none of the few we created.
This defeat was just about affordable, with St Albans and Bognor also losing. But we can ill afford another defeat at Fisher next Saturday.

Bath won't lose many games - very strong, physical side. Solid at the back, we didn't create anything after the first 5 or 10 minutes. Their front 2 were a handful, an excellent target man and their lively goalscorer Gilroy off of him. Their defence kept Dundas very quiet with him being a little isolated. The boys must put this one behind them straight away and try to get something out of the next 2 tough games. Thereafter points may come a bit easier again. All goals were gifted to the opposition without them having to do anything which is a bit of a worry!

I thought Bath looked as good as side as I have seen this season with the exception of Lewes. Solid at the back, stong in midfield & with Gilroy up front have a natural goal scorer.
The ref had a good game, although we never got the fouls that Bath were given even though many of their challenges resembled those we were pulled up for. Perhaps they were just that bit more clever?
In my predictions this was a nil pointer. Our GD is so bad that we are going to have to rely on points not GD to stay up, so the score line is really only damaging to morale rather than the league table as well. But what damage has it done?
The team ahve not played well in the last two matches, three out of the last four, TBH but once again did keep going to the end.
Boy, do we miss PH. I'm afraid that Lee Maskell adds nothing to the midfield. We need battlers and he isn't one. We will be short of midfielders next week as NG will be suspended as well.
As for starting Harry O, I would say not yet, he his better coming off the bench. As we all know, we need some more players & fast!

Always going to be one of those games where anything picked up was a bonus, although the scoreline was once again very flattering to the oppo. I thought we'd got over this hump of gifting sides goals? Still, I don't think we played particularly badly as such, just that they were just better in most departments.
Agree we really missed Ug. Maskell really isn't good enough. Not strong enough, distribuiton isn't up to scratch and he's too slow and Nick Greene for a creative player just doesn't hurt the oppo at all.
Ernie is on the hunt for new bodies, I just hope he can find 'em ASAP as we really do need a boost to the side.
Games like that we have to kind of accept that we probably won't get anything and look more to the meetings with sides like Bognor & Dorch etc immediately around us to pick up the wins we need. Then side mid-tableish (Fisher for example) to try & pick up the odd 'extras' from to boost the tally.
Point minimum required next week.

Good to see some realistic views here and a fair match report on the official site, unlike Tarquin Nordbach (?) in the NLP, who, astonishingly, thought that if only we'd taken our chances, we'd have won the match easily .
