Despite leading 1-0 at half-time (sound familiar?), Thurrock went down 3-1 at Histon tonight. That means the Essex boys need at least a point against us on Saturday to stay up. They'd go down anyway if Hayes and Basingstoke win at Welling and Salisbury respectively - but that's a fairly unlikely scenario!
Farnborough beat Fisher 2-0, which means we can't overtake them and will finish no higher than 12th. We could still be overtaken by Bognor and Cambridge.

Well they got choice but to go for the win as a draw is only good enough if Hayes lose by 2 goals, so 's*it' or bust for the Lakesiders.

Not according to the table I've just looked at. Thurrock have a gd of -24 and Hayes, a pont ahead, have -26. So a draw would be good enough for Thurrock provided that Hayes lose at Welling. But if Hayes draw, Thurrock would need to win.
Basingstoke are level on points with Hayes but have a much better gd of -12. So even if they lose at Salisbury, a draw for Thurrock wouldn't be enough for the Lakesiders to move above them.
Fascinating stuff!

I see that Farnborough's age old money problems re-emerged last night. 8 first teamers went on strike due to lack of wages (again) and the management team proposes to resign after Saturday. Although I don't like to see teams in trouble, relegation might not be finally settled until well after the end of the season, whatever happens on Saturday. Interesting thread on this, including comments from Tony Theo, at www.ftfcguide.com/ftfc.mpl?action=View+Thread&thread=18604
